You shouldn't have to do anything other than install the new driver, then run the patcher and reboot. Make sure to use two bridges with CrossFire.

Hi,
I am new to AMD (jumped from NV) I have a twin card 290x Cross fire setup, with a HDMI 2.0 4K Projector running over HDMI, can I get the faster HDMI 2.0 refresh rates working with these utilities?.

I used the patcher to unlock the limits on HDMI / DVI Crossfire etc on the latest beta 9.5.

But when I go into the Catalyst desktop properties at 3840x2160, all the refresh rates over 30 are in italic and not working, if select one of these refresh rates higher than 30 (the italic ones), like 50 or 60 then main resolution drops down to 1080p and cant select the 3840x2160 resolution unless I drop the refresh rate back down (this is the same behavior as non patched drivers).

I really would like to game at 3840x2160 60hz but are stuck at 30hz at the moment, does any one have any ideas that may help? ( the projector only has HDMI 2.0 inputs no DVI or DP connection).

edit: Sorry forgot to mention I tried the CRU to setup a 3840x2160 60hz resolution, but that didn't seem to help (I think the EDID in the projector will already have this resolution anyway.)

You will not get 3840x2160 @ 60 Hz with any of the current video cards. There aren't any that support HDMI 2.0 speeds yet.

Thanks Toasty, I read on tomshardware that the 290/x were meant to have the faster 600mhz chips on them, the displayport certainly can handle 3840x2160 at 60 over Single stream in HBR2.

Just thought might be able to get even 3840x2160 at 50hz, at lcd reduced timings that's ~431mhz - is that still too high??

Hi Toasty,

I wonder if some sort of other limiter is in kicking in here, my projector does 4096x2160 as well (up to 60hz).

With-out the patcher I can only go to 4096x2160 24hz, and after the patcher it still only allows 4096x2160 at 24hz, if I chose 30hz the main resolution drops again, I would have thought I would be at least be able to go to 4096x2160 at 30hz after patching? (4096x2160 @ 30hz should be only around 280mhz)

A little bit offtopic, but.. There's 2 options in CCC for DVI:
- Reduce DVI Frequency on high-resolution displays
- Alternate DVI operational mode

Does any of them equals reduced blanking? Are they able to affect input lag somehow?

Can you tell me what file(s) gets patched so i can make a back up. I'd like to be able to watch blu rays by just putting the old file back. Instead of re installing a driver every time.

I'm pretty sure you just have to return to the default resolution - or at worst, re-run the patcher and restart - to get HDCP support back
