Acer XB270ha need help with custom refresh
Hi

I'm currently running a surround setup with the following:

1 x Acer XB270ha (60-144hz g-sync)
2 x Asus VN279 (60hz)

I'm able to overclock the Asus panels to 75hz max however I can't create a custom refresh for the XB270ha at the same freq.

The Acer can be set to 80Hz but can't reach this with the Asus IPS panels.

Any help setting the XB270ha to 75hz or confirmation that the Asus can be tweaked to 80hz would be much appreciated.

I'm surprised the Acer won't accept 75 Hz. Try other timing parameters like the "LCD standard" and "LCD reduced" timing options. If that doesn't work, then I don't know what you can do about this. I doubt the ASUS will accept 80 Hz.

I'm guessing it's the gsync scaler at work here, although the OEM's are perfectly free to add refresh rates if they choose. Example: ULMB works at 120hz in the newest firmware for XB270HU, while in older firmware it was limited to 100 and 85hz.

Certain lower refresh rates simply display out of range, even if the panel is capable of it. Someone said the Asus ROG Swift either says out of range at 85 or 75hz, don't remember which.

Look at the Benq Z monitors for instance.
The M24HW01V8 panel in the XL2420Z/xL2411Z/XL2430T is easily capable, but with Benq firmware, won't display 85hz refresh rate at LOWER than native resolution (yet it does it perfectly at 1920x1080)--it shows an out of range popup and locks you out of the OSD (yet you still get a signal. Same thing happens if you use a VGA connection). The service manual for the XL2720Z has an "X" next to 1024x768@85 and 1280x1024@85, meaning 'not supported'. (the exact same scaler is used in that and the 24" panels). I haven't tested the 24" Benq panels but I suspect you will get the out of range error at 85hz at lower than native res also.

Yet 75hz works perfectly at lower resolutions.

The very same scaler is used in the Asus VG248QE and it displays 85hz at low/crt refresh rates no problem at all, as Asus' firmware allows it.

Hey MrGiggly, I'm in a similar situation with an XB270HU and 2x Asus monitors (though VW266H).

Could you tell me how you overclocked your monitors to 75hz? These only go to 60hz and I'd like to try OCing to see if they will work with the Acer.

Thanks!

K

Hi,

I just used Toasties CRU to create a detailed resolution for each of the Asus panels. Automatic standard LCD and no change to parameters.
