Extending DisplayPort cables
I am intending to retire my Dell U2711 2560x1440 monitor which I am running on a 3M HDMI cable with a Radeon GPU thanks to CRU.
The monitor I'm thinking of buying will be the Dell U2715K which uses DisplayPort. Does anyone know if there is a way to extend DisplayPort cables in a similar fashionb assuming one uses a suitable GPU? |

RE: Extending DisplayPort cables
You shouldn't need to do anything special for 3 meter cables.

Thank you, ToastyX I was hoping that would be the case but was worried they had the same limitation as the 1.2M HDMI cables that seem to be standard in monitor boxes. I see that Dell still only include 1.2M DP cables with their monitors and I wonder why they don't supply longer ones. Cost, I suppose. If I'm not being really lazy asking this, is there a brand you'd recommend? I hear that it's quite easy to get poor quality ones if one isn't careful. Thanks again Trevor |
