Assistance with EDID edit for Nvidia surround Acer x34p + 2 LG 27" monitors
Hi all,
My current setup is triple monitor running of a single 2080ti on intel 9900K. Left: LG 27GL850-B 27" 2560 x 1440p (capable of 144hz but set to 120hz gsync) Centre: Acer predator X34P 34" 3440 x 1440 (Stock is 100hz but overclocked via menu settings to 120hz gsync) Right: LG 27GL850-B 27" 2560 x 1440 (capable of 144hz but set to 120hz gsync) I wanted to use Nvidia Surround but running into that issue where trying to do it gives that random resolution 3072x768 with 60hz refresh rate maximum. I did reading online and saw that people were using Custom resolution utility (CRU) app and modifying EDID on the affected problem monitor to make nvidia recognise the correct resolution. I have tried experimenting (replicating the known 120hz settings in the Acer X34p profile within the CRU app and trying to add that everywhere) in the hopes nvidia surround will pick it up correctly and add the monitor resolutions correctly. Attached some screenshots to show whats going on. Anyone know or can guide me on how to fix this up? Included what I can see in the Acer X34 profile and the LG 27GL850-B profile in Custom Resolution Utility. Thank you for your time. |

NVIDIA Surround requires all monitors to share a common resolution. You'd have to add 2560x1440 to the X34P, but the monitor might not support that resolution.

Thank you for your response. Looking at the manual the x34p doesn't support 2560x1440p res so at least that resolves that query! Good thing I bought 3 of the LG monitors~ |

RE: Assistance with EDID edit for Nvidia surround Acer x34p + 2 LG 27" monitors
I've got practically the same setup as you except my Acer Predator is 144hz 27inch. Exact same problem. I've come to the conclusion that the monitors literally have to have the exact same profiles (same make - everything) for the Nvidia Surround util to work. All three monitors support the 2k 1440 res at 144mhz. Oddly though the Predator is 143.998 and the two LGs come in sat 143.977 (like that should make a difference). Anyway, if I take the Acer and one of the LGs it drops refresh to 60Hz. If I use the two LGs it gives me 144Hz. I'm suspecting if I get another LG it'll do all three at 144Hz.
Nvidia's Surround is a big disappointment nor been able to deal with these slight differences. I've used the CRU util to edit the underlying profiles (copying the LG profile and dumping it over the top of the Predator profile; done a reset and....nothing). Still stuck at 60Hz... So the only solution seems to be fork out for another LG850-b or put up with 60Hz...yeah the latter is not going to happen. Thanks NVidia you suck. |
