Are these monitors connected with DVI? If turning the monitor off and back on resolves the problem, then you might be hitting the edge of what the monitor will accept, so it only works some of the time, but then the question is why is the other monitor not affected? If you swap the monitors, does it affect the same monitor or does it only affect a specific port on the video card?

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Thanks ToastyX for explaining.

I'll give it all another go and report back, you were right though, the one game I had tested before (BF4) does not now see the 75hz created from NV control panel.

But first can I ask, when you say basic audio support from using that 'hdmi-audio.dat' what does that mean exactly.

I run the TV stereo speakers with up to 24bit/48Khz usually. Would this custom extension block allow this still. I actually like my TV sound for TV shows and some films to come from the TV, and either use the TV speakers or the sound bar behind via optical out of the TV.

And you mention that Nvidia fixed the custom resolutions/refresh rates beyond the 165 MHz pixel clock limit, I thought something was odd when it just worked using the auto setting when I tested 75-79hz.

Would it be best to stay at 75hz or the upper limit of 79hz, for gaming purposes.

And can I also ask, for watching movies, for which I use Zoom Player (MAX) and MadVR and LAV filters. Would having a display rate of 75hz be of any benefit outside of games. I'm a little hazy on this area when it comes to movies. Although I managed to create a good 23.976hz NV custom resolution which matches up extremely well when checking the OSD via MadVR, giving pretty smooth playback with almost zero repeated frames. Would 75hz (or 79hz) be better for movie watching via the PC and my current set up, or shoukld I just stick with MadVR switching to its 23.976hz to match the playback rate, most if not all of which are 23.976 fps.

It only affects a port on the video card.

I have another question as well. Does using dual link DVI cables for this montiro helps?

Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi all,

this goes particularly to toastyx!

I have been reading and googling and struggeling but for the life of me, i cant solve my problem.

I have 3x optoma GT750 projektors hooked up via 3 x aktive DP to HDMI 1.4 adapters to an Asus 7970 Platinum card.

All three beamers work in 120hz separately and also with extended desktops in 1280 x 720 or 1024 x 768 (which i actually rather prefered for iracing)

BUT they will not hold the 120hz once i switch to eyefinity. The resolution changes to full hd in 60hz.
And i know you gonna want to link me to CRU and i already tried that. Thats the reason i found you in the first place.

i have tried cru with:

1280x720 @ 120.000hz (162.82mhz) -/+
1024x768 @ 120.007hz
3840x720 @ 120.000hz (356.16mhz) +/-

the list goes on and on... as a noob i tried pretty much everything possible.

finally i ended up with:

1279x708 @ 120.000hz (129.51Mhz) +/-

which was the only setting that eyefinity takes, all other resolutions worked only in extended desktop mode but not in eyefinity mode.
at some point when installing catalyst new the resolution changes to 1280x720 @ 120hz but resets to fullhd in 60hz after reboot.

Anyway thats not all, even if i could live with 1279x708@120hz that wasnt the goal of this big investment of gear. I wanted to get HD3D in eyefinity since the projectors are capable of 3D. I haf one projector runing in 3D but all three dont work with 3D for some reason even thou they clock at 120hz in custom resolution.

When i start iracing in 32bit mode for 3D function a code comes up saying that my graficscard is not compatible...

Do for the love of god, please help me before i throw all of this out of the window. i have been fighting with this since two weeks. please help! PLEASE!!!

thanks

Alex

Are you saying they all switch to 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz, making it 5760x1080 @ 60 Hz? That would mean 1080p is still defined somewhere, possibly in the extension block.

Make sure 1280x720 @ 120 Hz is defined as the first detailed resolution, and try removing all the other resolutions and disabling the extension block, or just import this file to do all that for you: http://toastyx.net/720p120.dat

If that doesn't work, then I don't know what's going on because the driver is doing something weird.

If that does work, try enabling the extension block and see if everything still works with 3D support.

What timing parameters have you tried? Did you try the "LCD reduced" timing option?

A dual-link DVI cable won't make a difference. The U2311H is a single-link DVI monitor.

Yes, basic audio includes 24-bit/48 KHz. Basic audio is just standard LPCM audio.

That depends on the game, the frame rate, and whether or not you're using vsync. If the game doesn't have any frame rate caps and your video card can handle a high frame rate, then I would go for the highest refresh rate possible. If you're using vsync, I would go for something a little under your minimum frame rate so it doesn't stutter.

Use 71.928 Hz for movies because that's an exact multiple of 23.976. 75/79 Hz will have some minor judder.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi, i am trying to get a higher refresh rate on my acer x183H connected via vga to gtx680 dvi port with adapter. I've tried this utility and nvidia control panel. When i try a higher refresh rate say 64 the text becomes a little blurry, any way to fix this?

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Thanks Toasty, that all worked very well.

The 75hz for game detailed entry in CRU with imported hdmi-audio seems to work at first glance. I need to test further when I have a chance.

I have also created a movie custom refresh rate in the NV control panel of 71.928 and saved it. Then in MadVR added in 1080p71 and once MadVR changes to it, its OSD displays 71.9290 which is pretty good, with a little tweaking to the custom resolution that might be more accurate. My mouse moves nice when alt-tabbing away from the movie back into windows (win7/64) for what ever, and overall is easier on my eyes at 71.928, which I like.

I did notice though I had to remove the MadVR 1080p23 and 1080p24 entry to stop it from switching to those before (1080p71). I wonder if I should post on the MadVR forum and enquire about some way to have preferred values attached to those custom entries in MadVR. Sort of like this: 1080p23[2], 1080p71[1] - So when using a multiple of 23.976 there can be preferred options that MadVR switches to

I am currently trying with LCD reduced timing options at 75Hz. The automated values are as below

Front porch 24,3
Sync width 32, 5
Back porch 40, 5
Total 2016, 1093
Polarity +, +
Refresh rate 75.001Hz

I wasn't able to set the resolution in NVCP. But I can set it from windows screen resolution. Testing now for a few days to see if it stays that way. EDIT: The above did not work as well. Black screen at start up this morning.

Below are the other 2 settings that I have tried and didn't work (passed test but black screen during restarts)
Front porch 25,3
Sync width 35, 4
Total 2025, 1092
Polarity +, +
Refresh rate 75.000Hz

Front porch 25,3
Sync width 35, 4
Total 2025, 1092
Polarity +, +
Refresh rate 74.616Hz

Front porch 20,3
Sync width 20, 4
Total 2004, 1092
Polarity +, -
Refresh rate 75.000Hz

I can understand that it doesn't work when 165MHz of pixel clock is exceeded. The last 2 are within the limit, but doesn't work as well, not sure why.
