RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
So my monitor (AORUS FI32Q-X) has the stupid 4k downscaling technology for compatibility with consoles since it's a 1440p monitor, so my computer thinks it's a 4k monitor because of this. I tried using CRU to remove the 4k resolutions from both the TV Resolutions data block and the Display ID 1.3 extension block. Every time I do this and use restart.exe or restart-64.exe all of my displays start glitching, freeze on whatever it is displaying, and then go black and stay black getting a little brighter then go back to black. I was trying to do this because tabbing in and out of full-screen games takes anywhere from 5-10 seconds and it is just infuriating. I hypothesized that this is because the display size is changing between 1440p and 4k because of whatever downscaling module is inside of the monitor, but I do not know exactly. I'd appreciate any help fixing my incredibly long switching between fullscreen games problem, and getting CRU to work to see if this will fix the issue as well. Thanks!

What GPU do you have? This sounds like a driver bug.

HDR dynamic metadata is not necessary for HDR.

CRU only creates EDID overrides, and I'm not sure a Miracast connection would honor them. Is the Miracast display listed in CRU? If so, what resolutions does it list by default?

Nope, no remote desktop or mirroring software.

Main monitor (which I also doesn't work with new resolutions or show then in windows display settings) is "Dell U2422HE(DisplayPort 1.4)"

Secondary monitor simply says "Generic Monitor HDMI" - it's a "Wisecoco 10.3 inch IPS Pro LCD Display 1920x720 Stretched Bar LCD Ultra Wide Screen 50 Pins LVDS VGA HDMI Controller Board"

Nope, only Display Adapter is as expected "AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT"

Does mirroring software create issues? I used to use "Virtual Desktop" (https://www.vrdesktop.net) with my Oculus Quest 2, but removed it long ago - it's not installed and not showing in device manager anywhere. DDU never picked it up (although I don't suppose it would).

Yes, I can see Miracast display in CRU, and as far as I understand, even EDID information is read correctly (but I do not see max resolution option 1440x2560 there, other resolutions are displayed correctly). Problem is that any changes in CRU wont affect the display.

That's not the correct EDID. That EDID is for a Samsung S24F350, a 1080p monitor. I don't know where it's getting 1440x2560 from.

Set the color format in the GPU's control panel: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh3-007

It can, but I don't think that's the case with VR desktop. There's something unique on your system because Windows 11 22H2 should have no problems with custom resolutions.
