RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi,

I have two devices connected to an HDMI splitter. One of them is a TV with HDMI, the other is a monitor that connects using an HDMI to DVI cable. Both devices support 1080p, 60 hertz.

When the monitor is the primary device on the splitter, there's no audio on the TV because the TV goes into DVI Mode. If the TV is the primary, the monitor is not able to get any picture, I guess because of unsupported HDMI mode(s).

I've fiddled around with CRU and haven't been able to get it to work. I've only been able to switch the monitor into being seen as an HDMI device, but that stops the monitor from working - the TV comes up fine.

Any ideas? I can provide more detailed information about the monitor and TV models.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello -& first off, thanks a ton for making this tool. Giving a bunch of people free access to technology they would otherwise have to pay for is cool.

I'm running a 2560x1080 ultrawide LG 29UM58-P on an RX480 over HDMI latest drivers.

Thought it had freesync out of the box, it doesn't, its brother, the 29UM68-P does.

I've read people managed to get Freesync working with your tool on this exact monitor, I tried, can't do it.

http://=https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawi...n_freesync

Added Freesync in the extension blocks data blocks and AMD app says Freesync is enabled, however I can't see it doing anything on AMD's red bar or windmill test.

I tried removing my side monitors (Old 1080P panels I used for productivity, not for 6400x1080 eyefinity)

I tried adding resolution 2560x1080 in CRU1.3.1 but it won't let me, letters become red when I'm adding the numbers.

Tried adding 2560x1080 under detailed resolutions in the extension blocks, that did not work either, if I do, Freesync becomes greyed out. The only way to have Freesync active and have 2560x1080 show in the extension block is by clicking Freesync and editing a random detailed resolution.

I tried resetting it all, exporting bin file from active monitor with Monitor Asset Manager and importing that into your tool to work from there, still won't let me add 2560x1080 - not even sure if I'm supposed to add 2560x1080 anywhere in standard or detailed resolutions. The reddit guy says it's working without doing it. Perhaps his Freesync doesn't work on this monitor -& he just think it does because his AMD panel now says it does?

Thx in advance,

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
I'm trying to get CRU to work but my refresh rate won't go beyond 60hz
I have a laptop with 630 Intel HD graphics with latest version 4901
I even formatted the laptop but still, it won't add any other rate but 60hz
what is wrong with the app?

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi,

I have a 4K Samsung monitor (https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/mon...e590ds-za/)
together with a R5 230 which comes with a HDMI 1.4 port.
I have been playing with CRU for a couple of days trying to increase the refresh rate of the native resolution which is 3840*2160.

What I have done is to increase the speed of the HDMI support to 590 and change the TV resolution to 3840*2160@60Hz in the extension block.
I also did so in the detailed resolution pane.

I don't know if this is enough.

Could delete the audio support from the extension block allow more bandwith for the image ?
Or decrease the quality of the image encoding (via color coding) ?

I haven't found a clear tutorial on this and I'm not sure to understand the difference between the detailed resolution and the resolution of the HMDI support in the extension block..

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hey, I'm using CRU to overclock my monitor (ideally 1920*1080 at 60hz)

My monitor's native resolution is 3840*2160 48hz.

I can create a working 3840*2160 54hz profile. Even though I only created a 3840*2160 54 hz profile, I can select a working 1920*1080 54hz profile.
I cannot create a 3840*2160 profile with greater than 54 hz - intel's control panel will not display those.

When I try creating a 1920*1080 60hz profile, I can see it on intel's control panel, but when I try applying it, I get a black screen. I've tried creating this profile with LCD standard, native, reduced, and CRT standard. None work.
I'm guessing it has to do with the front porch, sync width, back porch... etc parameters, but I'm finding it hard to understand exactly what those parameters do.

Any tips?
Thanks.

The only way to get 3840x2160 @ 60 Hz with HDMI 1.4 is with YCbCr 4:2:0. If the TV supports YCbCr 4:2:0, then 60 Hz should already be available. If not, you can try adding a TV resolutions data block with "4:2:0 resolutions" checked. Then add 3840x2160 @ 60 Hz. Do not add it as a detailed resolution or mess with anything else.

As long as the GPUs are the same brand, like NVIDIA+NVIDIA or AMD+AMD, then both cards will use the same driver, so it won't be a problem. NVIDIA+AMD is also possible, but driver bugs might cause weird issues when mixing GPUs.

A belated feedback on this: i m running successfully amd&nvidia setup on the same pc (nvidia for 1080p/ amd for crt monitor with super resolution 1920x480 with the default drivers from windows no catalyst).
Also for people trying to run frontends/games on the second monitor without changing to primary the second one use "Actual Multiple Monitors".

Laptop screens don't support non-native resolutions. Lower resolutions require GPU scaling.
