Custom Resolutions with the Samsung G9 and nVidia
Trying to get my head around this monitor as I'm currently getting no where.
The OSD has two 'framerate' options of 120 and 240. I believe selecting 240 enables DSC, and it's at this point I lose any ability to create a custom resolution in both CRU and nVidia Control Panel. Natively (with DSC) it's running 5120x1440 at 240hz with 10bit colour in RGB. All I'm trying to is replicate these settings with 3440x1440. CRU reports this: I've tried adding a DisplayID (1.3 and 2.0) extension block with detailed resolutions but after restarting the resolutions do not appear. Am I stuck at this point? |

RE: Custom Resolutions with the Samsung G9 and nVidia
That monitor uses purely DisplayID when 240 Hz is active, so the EDID doesn't have the required information. I don't know if it's possible to override it.
You might have better luck adding 3440x1440 as a scaled resolution. For NVIDIA, search the registry for NV_Modes and add 3440x1440 in there. |

Thanks for your reply. This has got me half way there, I can now select 3440x1440 and it works in game. NV_Modes: {*}S 720x480x8,16,32,64=1; 720x576x8,16,32,64=8032; SHV 1280x720x8,16,32,64 1680x1050x8,16,32,64 1920x1080x8,16,32,64 2048x1536x8,16,32,64=1; 1920x1440x8,16,32,64=1F; 640x480x8,16,32,64 800x600x8,16,32,64 1024x768x8,16,32,64=1FFF; 1920x1200x8,16,32,64=3F; 1600x900x8,16,32,64=3FF; 2560x1440x8,16,32,64 2560x1600x8,16,32,64=7B; 1600x1024x8,16,32,64 1600x1200x8,16,32,64=7F; 1280x768x8,16,32,64 1280x800x8,16,32,64 1280x960x8,16,32,64 1280x1024x8,16,32,64 1360x768x8,16,32,64 1366x768x8,16,32,64=7FF; 1152x864x8,16,32,64=FFF; 3440x1440x8,16,32,64=1FFF; It seems the 1FFF mask is ignored, I get 60hz and 120hz options but not 240hz. I can set the mask to 1 and I get the same options. That might just be it for this monitor, I've also tried editing the monitor.inf like so: [C49G9xTdp.AddReg] HKR,"MODES\5120,1440",Mode1,,"30-183,50-120,+,-" HKR,,ICMProfile,0,"C49G9xT.icm" [C49G9xTdp.AddReg] HKR,"MODES\5120,1440",Mode1,,"30-357,50-240,+,+" HKR,"MODES\3440,1440",Mode1,,"30-357,50-240,+,+" HKR,,ICMProfile,0,"C49G9xT.icm" |

RE: Custom Resolutions with the Samsung G9 and nVidia
The refresh rate mask is only used for non-PnP monitors. This seems like a GPU or driver limitation. Normally all the refresh rates at the native resolution would be available at lower resolutions using GPU scaling. I guess it can't scale lower resolutions with DSC.

RE: Custom Resolutions with the Samsung G9 and nVidia
Hey, I got the same issue but couldnt figure anything out to fix it other than limiting the monitor to 120hz and adding custom resolutions via Nvidia Control panel as usual.
Could you tell me, where I can find the file(s) I need to edit for your Halfway-fix for the NV_Modes, please? Thanks in advance. |
