HELP tweaking CRU for Projector input delay PC gaming
HELP tweaking CRU for Projector input delay PC gaming

Hello there
i need help/tips for tweaking with CRU for my projector.
CRU - Custom Resolution Utility

my Projector = XGODY X1
projector spec link source
[Image: x1.jpg]

GPU i use = RX 6500 XT sapphire 4gb
i bought this projector, mainly for watching movies, anime, youtube. its working normal and great. usually 1080p video, depends on the format, it also can run 4k smooth.
-Playing video via build-in android projector=normal Heart
-Playing video via PC-HDMI port =normal Heart

But i notice something, when using it for gaming.
-Gaming via build-in android projector = normal Heart
(im using nintendo wireless gamepad/controller, connect it via projector bluetooth)
no input delay at all, pressing jump or throw bomb, etc all normal. the game i test on android is "Bombsquad"

-Gaming via PC-HDMI = im getting input delay HuhHuhSad
(keyboard,mouse, and gamepad/controller-wired )
the input delay not really bad, but maybe only 1or1/2or1/4 second, idk how to explain but, theres just a little bit delay when pressing button.
The game i test is Spelunky2. just a small games with basic jump, whip and throw bomb.

*the game it self run normal no laggin. only it has input delay.
im also test with other game. all game i test with 1080p 60hz.

if you wanna watch the delay, ill give you link from this source :
video link
you can watch from minute "7:46". but hes using PS5
"TRY WATCH ON 0.25 speed, see when he press the button X O SQUARE TRIANGLE . thats the delay input i mean."

i kinda forgot the default refresh rate when plugin via hdmi first time, but i think its 59hz or 30/29hz. 1080p resolution. (im forgot the number sry)
but after that i change it to 60hz.

#(i forgot to take screenshot of list resolution i can change from "Display Settings">"Display">"Display Resolution")#
with CRU, i can add more hz, custom resolution.
but basicly im adding 1080p,900p,720p -70hz,75hz,80hz,85hz.
the max i can set is 85hz. more than 85hz give me blackscreen, also projector randomly, shutdown.

i can feel the different when change it to 70-85hz. it does help reduce input delay, but theres still little bit input delay left.
But the problem, sometimes it giving me blackscreen when i change resolution in game.(not everytime, only random sometimes).
so im back set it to 60hz.(i search that its gonna bad/dangerous to set it more , thats why i choose to set 60hz only)

ive tried contact the xgody admin if theres new firmware update, but they said that theres no more firmware update for this X1 series.
So thats why im using CRU to tweak this projector.

######################################################################################################
*But recently, i kinda realise from CRU.
the projector, somehow i think the firmware bug.
the firmware i think, they didnt correctly put the right value.
first time i plug PC, it giving me refresh rate 29hz/30 i think. so i need change manually to 60hz(not tweak via CRU, the default windows Advanced Display Settings).

when using the build-in android, which only OS Android 9.0 , game control/gamepad can run smooth. no input delay at all.
But , when using it via PC-HDMI, somehow giving me input delay. its funny.

##
MY MAIN HELP tweak !!!:
-recently i tried to tweak this CRU - Extension Blocks - CTA-861.

im adding *HDMI 2.1 support on the "Data Blocks"
-TMDS character rate (check) Maximum 600 Mcsc
-Features (check) SCDC present

-YCbCr 4:2:0 deep color
(check) 30-bit (10bpc)
(check) 36-bit (12bpc)

-2.1 features
(check)Auto low-latency mode

other than that is default. i didnt change anything.

when adding this , the result actually it reduce the input delay better.
FROM 1-10 , i feel its 8 now.
for some games, i can play more better now.(just small games test)
its better than changing hz to 70-85hz.
im using 1080p 60hz btw. when test adding HDMI 2.1 data blocks

Huh
any idea what should i tweak more, so i can reduce more or maybe fix this input delay.
or maybe add/edit "HDMI Support" on the "Data Blocks" tab ?

*
Would be great to test nintendo switch dock mode.
i dont have other console like Nintendo Switch , XBOX , or PS5. so cant test em.
I can only test PC and build-in Android OS.
The build-in Android OS, give me no input delay at all when gaming. i connect it with nintendo wireless controller.

You can't fix lag with CRU. Return the projector and find one that doesn't lag.

RE: HELP tweaking CRU for Projector input delay PC gaming
It means what is says. "Selectable overscan" means the overscan is selectable either automatically through the signal or manually through the display's settings. "Not overscanned" means the resolutions are not overscanned. This is just a description of what the display does. Windows does not use this information for anything, and changing it does not affect what the display does.

Thx for your previous answer ToastyX.BlushAngel

Btw
is overclock-ing Hz can really damage the hardware/lifetime ?Confused
(not really using it for long time, only for 30minute,1hour or 1-2hour. 60hz-85hz etc, depends when need.)

im mainly use 720p 60hz.
ive been testing :
720p 70hz,75hz,80hz,85hz,
last is 120hz.

Huh

Risk is very low since most displays will not allow refresh rates outside of supported range. My experience is displays that lag will skip frames to always output 60 FPS no matter the refresh rate, so higher refresh rates will likely have judder. If the projector is capable of true 120 Hz, that might reduce the lag in half, but if it skips frames, then it won't make a difference.

So no side effect like getting warm/heat to the pcb/mainboard ?Shy

from 720p test, the result :
the input delay reduced/improve when using 85Hz. 70-80Hz seems soso, but better than using 60hz.

But changing it to 120Hz make it better.
I can see the difference when using gamepad/controller. Pressing button for jump or attack, pretty accurate now.

[for watching movies, youtube and anime im still using 60hz and it run normal/great. No need 70-120Hz]

It could run warmer, but only if it's not skipping frames. I think you should do this test: https://testufo.com/frameskipping

RESULT >
with 60Hz is good/normal : xx0000000xxxx
85Hz : xx0xx00x00x0
120HZ : xx0x0x0x0x0x0xx.

But good news.Big Grin
ive been tried to find what makes lag, and finally found the culprit.
there is some setting that i need tweak here and there(just disable some settings).
and it fix the input delay.!!!!!!HeartBlushBig GrinCool
the brand it self, doesnt even know this thing. Angry

finally i can play games pretty sync now
both input and the screen.
no input delay like before.

i dont need to change the refresh rate.
now pretty playable on 60hz. even on 1080p

but for some games, heavy games. its still hard to play, with mouse.
idk why, with controller/gamepad its better and accurate.

on future i gotta upload the video, but idk when.
