Another thing you can try is deleting the extension block with CRU. That will cause the video card to send a DVI signal instead, which might be more stable if the monitor is having trouble with something in the HDMI signal.

Still using the HDMI to HDMI cable, I powered down, went out then turned on my computer for the first time since it last stabilized

After boot-up it will flicker the static screen for some time (Maybe half hour?)

I let it do its thing, fell asleep and woke up with the Display stabilized

Any idea why it is having trouble decoding HDCP initially but then stabilizes?

My other cables have just arrived, I can test if it does this with the other cables
