Overclocking QNIX to 96HZ on Ubuntu/Linux Proprietary Drivers

Hello. I'm new here. I found this forum when trying to overclock my QNIX on windows 8. It overclocks to 120 Hz just fine on windows. I have been wanting to try and learn linux so I installed Ubuntu 14.04. I'm completely new to linux so I have no idea what I'm doing. So I'm trying to get my QNIX to 96 hz on ubuntu but I have no idea what I am doing. I have loaded the amd proprietary fglrx drivers. The open source drivers are completely unusable for my r9 290. So then I got the edid and placed it in /etc/ati and called it DFP7.edid because that is the port I am using according to xrandr.

After researching, I was under the assumption that this edid will override the existing edid. I think that this is still true even though its not working for me lol . Ok so my next step was to check /var/log xorg.0.log. This is part of the entire text I see.

So i can see that the dfp7 is loading just fine. But what in the world is that add customize mode failed ? I can't seem to find any info on that. Can any linux users here help me out? Thanks !

You would need to patch the 330 MHz pixel clock limit, but I don't have a patch for the Linux driver.
