Playing fullscreen games at a lower resolution messes up my second monitor.

Hi,

Out of personal preference I like to run fps games full screen at 4:3 ratio on a lower resolution. I'm using a dual monitor setup with 1080p displays. Now when I open my game it will switch to the lower resolution (as espected). This all works fine except that it seems to try to apply this resolution to my second monitor aswell.. causing it to resize all the windows on there and often partially moving them off the screen. I would like to use this monitor to either watch videos and such while gaming.

Is there any way I can launch a game which is set at a lower resolution without messing up my second monitor so I can still watch movies on it?

I have been googling for a while now and couldn't find the right answer.. hoping someone here has figured it out
