That should not happen. Something is seriously wrong with the driver. You need to report that to NVIDIA.

Hi , I know its been a while regarding this thread. But I realized I was using an HDMI cable the entire time. Should I be using Displayport since we are deleting HDMI extension blocks?

You should not be deleting the HDMI data blocks or it will be limited to single-link DVI. Switching to DisplayPort might work around the problem and not trigger the driver bug.

I know this thread is a bit old but I am having the exact same issue.

I bought two LG 27GR83Q-B monitors and I'm using HDMI 2.1 (Strix 3090 OC has two HDMI ports instead of the usual one) so I don't have to use DSC over DisplayPort to get 10-bit. These monitors accept a 4K signal and downscale (for console support) so 3840 x 2160 shows up in the supported resolutions list in Windows.

I want to remove the 4K resolutions because some programs (primarily 3D Mark) see it and use it instead of the actual 2560 x 1440 resolution. When I remove any of the TV resolutions and/or HDMI resolutions from CTA-861 and save, and run restart64 both my screens stay black, with the modified one sometimes flickering the image on for like a fraction of a second at random intervals. As soon as I unplug the monitor that I removed the resolutions from, the other one recovers. Even if the other monitor is connected by DisplayPort it stays black until I disconnect the modified HDMI one.

I have checked though and the driver is not crashing. There are no errors from the driver in Event Viewer.
