EDID Issues CHD9021
i got a Hoher H19LX700D TV that worked normally with a VGA cable and a coax cable for audio, but then with other cables i kinda got messy, so i decided to use HDMI, after buying a cable i plugged it and it zoomed out so i created a custom resolution of 1280x800 that i was using on VGA, but the picture looked smeary and foggy, i thought it's the cable so got another one and it was the same, and after some research i found out it's a Rebranded Changhong LT19GX680EB with a 1440x900 resolution, so i tried it with VGA and the image looked crisp, but when i tried it with HDMI it looked smeary same as before, i tried CRU and it didn't work, i tried EDWriter to write the EDID i edited using CRU and it gives me "Unknown Display" and "Failed to write Data", what am i missing?

RE: EDID Issues CHD9021
That's not an EDID problem. That's your TV messing with the image when it receives an HDMI signal. I can't find a manual to see what options it has. Check the TV's menus and see if there is a way to disable overscan, and try different color formats in the GPU control panel. Unfortunately a lot of cheap TVs don't provide a way to disable the image processing with HDMI signals, so you might as well stick with VGA and coax.

oh i'm not talking about overscan, i already resolved that, i'm talking about the bad and smeary image quality when i set the resolution to 1440x900, when i do the same in VGA, it's clear and crisp, you have to see it with your own eyes cause the camera doesn't show it the same way, also i noticed in monitor asset manager that the gamma is 1.97, maybe it should be 2.2 or 2.4

if anyone has an EDID.bin of a 1440x900 HDMI TV no matter the brand, i need for testing, my panel is a "Hannstar HSD190MGW1"

is there any way to extract the VGA (EDID? or maybe DDC, i don't know the TV was made in 2006) to the HDMI one?

will a VGA to HDMI adapter or HDMI to VGA adapter help in such a case? or maybe a DVI to VGA or DVI to HDMI?

to make matters even funnier, if i use CRU and remove HDMI support from the extension bloc, it gets read as a DVI monitor, and THE IMAGE IS CRISP LIKE IN VGA, with the added issue of no audio, and the image looking like a foggy windows during the hot summer

RE: EDID Issues CHD9021
Again, this is not an EDID issue. As I said, your TV is messing with the image when it receives an HDMI signal, which includes the smearing and foggy colors. Deleting the HDMI data block makes the GPU send a DVI signal, which the TV treats differently, but then you lose audio. I already knew about that trick, but I didn't mention it because you said you wanted to use HDMI to avoid using a separate cable for audio.

The image looks foggy because the TV is outputting limited range. I said to try different color formats in your GPU's control panel. HDMI supports YCbCr 4:4:4 and 4:2:2, which are limited range, and RGB 4:4:4, which can be either limited or full range. DVI and VGA only support full range RGB 4:4:4.

Using the EDID for VGA will not solve the problem. It will just act like DVI without the HDMI data block. Also Windows doesn't use the gamma information in the EDID. This is entirely on the TV's end, so if it doesn't have the menu options to fix the image, then the only options are trying HDMI and the different color formats, deleting the HDMI data block and using the DVI signal, or sticking with VGA. A lot of cheap TVs mess with the image when receiving an HDMI signal with no way to fix the problem.

RE: EDID Issues CHD9021
Also you can use CRU to export the EDID to a file. If you haven't made any changes, it will export the original EDID. If you made changes (denoted by * in the monitor list), run reset-all.exe and restart to get the original EDID back. You can import the EDID with "Import complete EDID" enabled, which will also import the VGA signal information, but that won't actually affect anything with HDMI. It will just be treated as DVI.

EDWriter can also export the original EDID if you have a supported GPU. EDWriter can only write a new EDID if the EEPROM on the TV is not write-protected, which often involves entering the service menu. You shouldn't try to write a new EDID for this anyway because it won't solve your problem.

i did write the EDID many times, once it was treated as a DVI monitor and the Video was crisp, but the audio missing(self explanatory) but when i enable HDMI Support in CRU, export EDID then write it using EDWriter, the image is smeary again but the audio is working, what a rabbithole

i just need any EDID with HDMI 1.3 and below to test what's the issue

RE: EDID Issues CHD9021
i modified gamma values, modified resolutions, colorimetry, range limits and even color bit depth and still the same result but whenever i use the analog EDID the image is looking good, i think my solutions are either a DVI to HDMI adapter, or make the EDID see the HDMI as DVI, and look for someway to forward the audio to the TV

and apparently this guy has the same issues as me, and maybe even the same TV

I just got a proline lvd1985wd. (This is more like a TVset thing rather than a normal screen.)
It has d-sub and hdmi inputs.

If I use d-sub with a desktop, the resolution is 1440x900@60Hz. Pixels look spot on, picture is sharp.

However, this is not that cool with hdmi. By default, I won't get 1440x900 resolution. With CRU I have 1440x900, but it just doesn't look good. The picture looks blurry, and it is not in the right position. If you use analog signal, that automatic config of this TV centers the picture nicely. But this cannot be used when hdmi input is selected.
I tried various timings in CRU: lcd standard, lcd reduced and manual with the settings I read out of the desktop with d-sub but not much luck.

(Another odd thing is you could change between 16:9 and 4:3 in the screen's settings. 1440x900 would be 16:10 wouldn't it?)

This thing appears as CVT544C - HDMI Tv in CRU, if this helps.
Any hint guys how to make this work with hdmi?

RE: EDID Issues CHD9021
I told you what the problem is, but you won't listen. Changing the EDID doesn't affect what the TV does with HDMI signals. It's a cheap TV with terrible firmware that messes with the image when it shouldn't. Just use VGA and save yourself the trouble.

Oh mb, i thought you were talking about overscan only, and yes, it's a chinese manufactured TV rebranded by a turkish company and sold in french speaking countries mostly, damn
