Xbox Series X - 1440p120Hz
Hi folks,
There is currently an issue affecting a percentage of users in regards to the Xbox Series X and some 1440p120Hz capable monitors. The issue is that the Xbox does not think the monitor is capable of 1440p120Hz when the monitor itself is rated for 1440p144Hz (MSI MAG27CQ). The Xbox gives the options of only 1080p120/60Hz or 1440p60Hz. I am using the HDMI cable that comes with the Xbox and since they claim it can do 4K120, the HDMI should be 2.1 - coupled with the fact that I can get my monitor to do HDMI 1440p120Hz from my PC also means that the HDMI input should be 2.0 on the monitor. Anyway, having not got very far with other avenues of support, I am wondering if the CRU would be able to make changes to the monitors EDID and therefore allow the Xbox Series X to be set to 1440p120Hz It's either this or a new monitor and a free fix is always more attractive than buying a new monitor. Thanks. |

RE: Xbox Series X - 1440p120Hz
CRU doesn't modify the monitor's EDID, and the EDID is often write-protected. Doesn't that monitor already have 120 Hz in the EDID?

Funny, I read something on Reddit that answered my question only a few hours after posting this... typical. But the second part regarding the monitor already having the EDID is exactly why this issue is so frustrating - Microsoft (and monitor manufacturers) have not yet come out with any explanation of why this happens. Even though my monitor has the preset of 2560x1440@120Hz, the Xbox Series X does not see this and therefore does not allow those settings to be enabled. I have read that FreeSync limits 1440p to 100Hz over HDMI - I don't know much at all about this technology, but is this something that is plausible? |

My xbox one X is the same with my AOC AGON AG322QC4 & LG - UltraGear 32GK650F
they both only list 2560 x 1440 144 Hz i can do 1080p 120hz but not 1440p 120 Hz for some reason or i can do 1440p 60 Hz with freesync |
