Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)

Hi guys, I think I have a problem. My monitor (it's an old Samsung B1930, 60hz by default) can support 75hz with the overclock in my native resolution. The problem is when I use it I gets black bars on the sides, not in games but all the time. Is there a way to fix that? I tried every single mode and CRT was the most effective. Thanks

The problem is the monitor is meant to be used at 60 Hz, so the auto adjustment doesn't work properly with VGA at higher refresh rates. The solution would be to use DVI or HDMI instead of VGA, but the monitor only has VGA.

So basically there's no way to make it work correctly right? Now what happens if I play like that or I use it like that? I managed to play csgo on 1024x768 75hz with no borders. Apparently when I open some games borders will disappear

I don't know. I don't have your monitor. I don't see why the borders would just disappear in games. It might support 75 Hz at some lower resolutions.

Yes.

Well, it didn't work so I have 2 options:
3840x2160@60hz YCbCr 4:2:0 at 12bits so Windows HDR can be enabled or..
3600x2025@60hz RGB 8Bits (CVT reduced blanking) and windows is capable of turning HDR10 on.

I think I'll stick with the second option for a few reasons:
- Less pixels is less expensive to run games
- Not much of a difference from 4k.
- no color compression

The negative side is that it's not my TV native resolution so scaling can add a little bit of lag.

But for such a long cable that is not fiber, I'm happy with the result.

Hi all - I'm not using CRU for overclocking or upping refresh rates, but rather just adding a new 3:2 resolution to a Surface Book 3. This process was pretty simple with the Surface Book 2 - just added a detailed resolution at 60Hz and CRU did the rest. With the Surface Book 3, it resets to a black screen each time I attempt to add the new res and restart.

The monitor natively has a 3000x2000 resolution and I'm attempting to add 1920x1280 at 60Hz. It uses both Intel Iris and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics. I have a suspicion I'm missing a detail in the list of detailed specs that I didn't need to change previously. If so, how do I make sure that info is correct?

Any ideas?

Try rebooting instead of running restart.exe. Make sure GPU scaling is enabled if possible.

Thanks Toast. If I restart the PC, it restarts to a blank screen - I need to do a low-res reboot or restore to get back. It does this even if I don't select the new resolution. Even it just being present in the list will cause the screen to blank, both on restart.exe and reboot.

I don't see why that would happen. Does it happen if you make ANY change? Try adding a resolution and clicking OK. Then without restarting, delete the resolution and click OK. Then restart. Does that still result in a blank screen?
