That looks like your monitor not handling the resolution correctly.

I bought a displayport 1.4 to hdmi 2.1 cable to just see if i can solve my problem with my lg tv 4k 120hz and Radeon 5700xt. Has anyone here managed to get VVR or Freesync to work using the same combination?

I now have 10 bpc, full rgb 4:4:4 at 120hz and HDR but no VVR or Freesync. Whatever i try with CRU doesn't work. I can't get a custom 4k resolution to work whatever i tried even though according to amd software the connection is 8.1 Gps x 4. I'm still not allowed to go over 650 mhz pixel clock in the main screen detail resolutions. First extension block is detected now as hdmi 2.1 and if i add a DisplayId to add a custom resolution it works but it's not detected by windows drivers. Has anyone managed to get this to work?

thats weird why can i do it in nvidia config screen then without issues

DisplayPort adaptive sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR are two different protocols. You need an adapter that is specifically designed to convert DisplayPort adaptive sync to HDMI 2.1 VRR.

I thought i'l give it a try. Unfortunately nobody has build such a cable yet. Still, it's strange that any custom resolution at 4k don't work. I can get custom resolutions at 2k but nothing at 4k with hdmi cable or with the adapter cable.

You said it works with the NVIDIA control panel, so show me what you're doing with the NVIDIA control panel.

You should be able to add 4K custom resolutions. What is the pixel clock of the resolutions you're trying to add? HDMI 2.0 has a pixel clock limit of 600 MHz. Is the driver still applying that limit with HDMI 2.1? That shouldn't even apply with a DisplayPort adapter anyway, so that would be a driver bug.

You said it works with the NVIDIA control panel, so show me what you're doing with the NVIDIA control panel.

here is a screenshot of my custom res in nvidia control panel which works perfectly fine but has tons of inupt lag that's why i want to use cru. https://imgur.com/a/rER4riS
