Threaded Mode | Linear Mode

My main PC recently developed an issue where shortly after boot the display would lose signal and report an unsupported mode (720x480 60i!). For some absolutely bizarre reason I worked out this was happening when the Steam client was starting. I then worked out that if I reset CRU, the issue would go away! I was using CRU only to remove 4096 modes (due to Nvidia assuming the highest mode is the native and scaling not working).

I can't for the life of me work out what the Steam client is doing with video when it starts that could cause this problem and why my CRU edits seem to cause this issue. Any ideas?

Is there any way we can enable "Dynamic Refresh Rate" on Windows 11 using CRU? I'm using a laptop with Intel 12700H with onboard GPU and RTX 3060, outputing to a 165Hz display.

Open Intel graphics command center click on gear - settings then on top window select global settings and you have all stuff there ...

I have IIISi Creator Z16 Hiroshi Fujiwara Limited Edition laptop with intel i7 11th gen 11800H and RTX 3060 And 165hz refresh rate mini LED screen with Full HDR support 1000 nits screen is amazing !

Also check in video settings scroll down and see if you have set 10 bit color depth and color formal RGB .. I think default is only 8 bit .. with HDR off . With HDR on it will auto switch to 10 bit but I have 10 bit even with HDR off.

Only one flaw these laptops has is that cannot enable G-sync on RTX 3060 and I can't achieve 4k@120Hz on mine samsung 4k@120 TV which is really shame

In intel command center, when I click on + next to resolution, it won't give me all full options to set custom resolution which is strange ...
This laptop has thunderbolt 4 type-c combined with display port 1.4 or maybe 2.0 which fully support 4k@120 but can't do it ...
Shame that Nvidia control panel doesn't have full options to set everything same like in desktops ...

There's literally no mention of"Dynamic Refresh Rate" in your photos. Also my laptop does 4k120Hz just fine, with G-Sync compatible enabled.

And as you guessing I am not able to push custom resolution because amazing intel scrapped traditional graphics control panel from right click .. Only my option was to download microsoft store app intel graphics command center . And that poor center surprised me and when I tried to do custom resolution, it only showing width and height and can't do anything.
So I was trying to workarounds in registry adding some strings as on youtube some managed to do it, but no luck for me...
Intel shamefully removed old control panel where I could be able to do full custom resolution.
So lastly I found this software ...

Yes, but why do you need a custom resolution to use 120 Hz? Doesn't the TV already define it? The 11800H only has HDMI 2.0b, so 3840x2160 @ 120 Hz can only work with YCbCr 4:2:0.

I haven't heard of Steam changing resolutions when starting, and Windows won't even list 720x480i @ 60 Hz, so something strange is going on. With CRU changes active and without Steam loaded, does the same problem happen if you scan for hardware changes in Device Manager?

The laptop panel and interface has to support that. There's nothing in the EDID that controls that.

No, it doesn't, it's very odd.

Disable steam on boot
Add CRU changes
Reboot
Scan for changes (nothing)
Open steam (480i)

So u so blind and u need googles or glasses with thick lenses
see last feature first picture called smart Vsync
u don't have to tell me what laptop u have or show of u have some 4k laptop which is pointless on laptops .. ?‍♂️?‍♂️ Sweet spot is 2k@165Hz
All laptops has all syncs enabled since 11th gen laptops ?‍♂️Some has from Nvidia cards, some has from Radeon cards and I have from Intel UHD card which is linked to my secondary gpu rtx 3060
