I just tested and it doesn't work.Does CRU show a detailed resolution for 30 Hz somewhere either in the main window or in an extension block? Yes, i see a 3840x2160 30 hz resolution in the extension blocks. And i can effectively use 30 hz at 4K. The issue is really with the VSR resolution. I am even thinking switching my DisplayPort cable with an hdmi 1.4 one so that it will only use 30 hz at 4K and above. What do you think about that? |

RE: Scaled Resolution Editor (SRE)
I have set the resolution of Elgato HD Pro 60 to be 2560x1440 with CRU. Once I did that I was able to select that resolution in the Windows display control panel. I'm just not sure about something. On nVidia cards you can do that in their control panel. But with AMD (which is what I have) it sends you to the Windows display control panel to change resolutions etc.
Now I tested streaming last night and when I viewed it back there is still some crunching and pixelation. Its very noticeable especially on grass. So I'm guessing that my GPU isn't downscaling it? Which is what brings me here. Do I use the HDMI scaling option in Adrenaline? Or this app? And is the HDMI scaling option going to be using my GPU? I want to output the game capture at 1080p. On my main monitor I'm at 1440p with DP. I have my GPU connected into the capture card and then another HDMI cable going from the HDMI out on there via a HDMI to USB C adaptor back into my PC. I just have to work out the scaling. So what percentage less is 1920x1080 than 2560x1440? |

RE: Scaled Resolution Editor (SRE)
Hi, I'm using a 3090 Ti with 536.40 drivers and an LG C9 4K 120Hz OLED TV. With SRE I was able to delete all of the resolutions that are not found in the TV's EDID, however, the driver is still adding GPU scaled resolutions for high refresh rate versions of all of the resolutions that ARE found in the EDID.
This is with scaling set to "monitor" in the drivers. With scaling set to "GPU" it adds even more of these scaled resolutions, with every EDID resolution available in GPU scaled 3840x2160 at every refresh from 23Hz to 120Hz, but that is expected behavior for that setting. With "monitor" scaling enabled, the driver switches to some sort of pre-defined list of scaled resolutions expanding on the EDID resolutions by adding certain refresh rates. For example, the TV supports 640x480 60Hz, 1024x768 60Hz, and 2560x1440 120Hz. All three of these appear in the PC section. However (with monitor scaling) in the HDTV section the following scaled resolutions related to them also appear: 1080p, 640x480 (100Hz, 119Hz, 120Hz) 1080p, 1024x768 (100Hz, 119Hz, 120Hz) But no scaled version of 2560x1440 since it already goes to 120Hz in the EDID. This makes it very difficult to play old games at low resolutions like 640x480 with monitor scaling unless the game is able to select the 60Hz mode directly, in most cases the game will launch in 640x480 120Hz in scaled 1080p. At first it seemed like some sort of driver feature Nvidia added to try to preserve the native refresh rate at all times by finding the resolutions the TV can do at 120Hz and scaling to those resolutions whenever possible. However, then I noticed there are various other scaled resolutions at 60Hz as well, such as: 480p, 720x480 60Hz 720p, 1280x720 60Hz So it actually seems like there is just a list of various forced scaled common resolutions at 480p, 720p, and 1080p to "fill in the blanks" of whatever the EDID doesn't have and the 1080p ones just happen to go to 120Hz on my display and probably wouldn't appear otherwise. If i delete 1080p greater than 60Hz with CRU I assume 640x480 60Hz will start working as default, but I prefer to keep 1080p 120Hz. Is there any way to delete these remaining scaled resolutions? Attached a picture showing the issue. EDIT: Nevermind, I just remembered Nvidia always listed certain resolutions such as 720x480 and 1280x720 in the HDTV section instead of the PC section over HDMI, so those are the normal EDID resolutions. Looking over the list, the only issue is that due to the presence of 1080p at three high refresh rates in the EDID, scaled high refresh rate versions of every resolution below 1080p are appearing. |

Refresh rates are propagated down to lower resolutions as scaled resolutions if the resolution/refresh rate combination is not in the EDID. Try using CRU to make 640x480 @ 60 Hz the first detailed resolution. That trick works with AMD at least, but not sure about NVIDIA. |

RE: Scaled Resolution Editor (SRE)
is it safe to run my current display with all resolutions listed in Scaling Resolution Editor deleted? i want to strictly go for display scaling. what are the drawbacks for doing this? i feel like the scaling is better because it doesnt double-scale (GPU scale, then re-display scale internally). monitor still shows native res/refresh rates properly via EDID, i can still select 1920x1080 @ 144hz. what exactly is the difference between having native 1920x1080 GPU scaled vs not having it scaled/listed?

RE: Scaled Resolution Editor (SRE)
Hello I have a problem SRE doesnt work or at least the new resolution doesnt show up anywhere.
I want to do 8K on a 1080p monitor but get stuck on this point. Any help ? thanks |
