  1. How does this monitor communicate that it has audio capabilities? The EDID doesn't seem to reflect it, although I'm not an expert. I'm assuming The T490's graphics driver is what fails to recognize it's capabilities.
  2. Any pointers what CRU config settings I could try to make this setup (with the dock) work?
Audio should be in the EDID. The problem is you've got too many things going on, so I don't know where the point of failure is or what's being changed in the process. Thunderbolt uses DisplayPort video and audio, but you're using an HDMI display, so the dock has to convert the signal, and then you have another device extracting the audio. Something is getting lost in translation somewhere.

You can't overcome bandwidth limitations with CRU.

Come on, man. Why didn't you read the first post before using the software? Literally everything you talked about is there. You need to boot Windows in safe mode and run reset-all.exe.

(09-07-2012 09:06 PM)ToastyX Wrote:  Before making any changes, familiarize yourself with getting into safe mode using a recovery drive in case you can't see the screen. If you don't have a recovery drive, press and hold the power button to shut off the computer while Windows is booting. Doing this twice should give you recovery options that you can use to get into safe mode: Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart

(09-07-2012 09:06 PM)ToastyX Wrote:
  • Run restart.exe to restart the graphics driver.
    • If the display does not return after 15 seconds, press F8 for recovery mode. This will temporarily unload all the EDID overrides without deleting them. Restart the driver again to reload any changes.

(09-07-2012 09:06 PM)ToastyX Wrote:  To reset a display back to the default configuration, use the "Delete" button at the top to delete the override from the registry and reboot. To reset all displays, run reset-all.exe and reboot. This can be done in safe mode if necessary.

  • CRU adds monitor resolutions, not scaled resolutions. Lower resolutions can be scaled up to the native resolution by enabling GPU scaling in the graphics driver's control panel, but higher resolutions won't be scaled down by the GPU. Higher resolutions will only work if the monitor can handle them.
  • Laptop displays usually don't have scalers and can't display non-native resolutions without GPU scaling. To add other refresh rates, add the refresh rate at the native resolution. The graphics driver will automatically add the refresh rate to lower scaled resolutions.

I tried many ways to start in safe mode but it doesn’t work

So turning the laptop off while Windows is booting two times doesn't give you recovery options? The only other way is to use a recovery drive, which you can create on another computer, or your laptop might have a way to boot a recovery partition.

Yes, it doesn’t give you the opportunity, can you give me some kind of social network of yours? I’ll send you a video, am I doing it right?

You're shutting it off too early. Wait for the spinning dots to show up. Then shut it off.

Then you'll need to create a USB recovery drive on another computer and then boot from the drive. I don't see how shutting it down while booting isn't working.

Appreciate the response Smile No, only the one extension block. Screen grab below (along with an image of NVCP for info).

Have also attached test.txt. Thanks...

Does it work if you delete the "Extension override" data block in the extension block?
