560.70 is what I checked.
Do interlaced resolutions over HDMI work on those drivers?
Yes.

That is in order to try getting DSC off on samsung displays without too much tinkering.
Yes it's possible but not with an NVIDIA GPU because the driver ignores EDID overrides with DSC.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Im using Qres, ChangScreenResolution and Nircmd to apply a custom 21:9 resolution (2560x1080). Its added to the Detailed resolution section, timings are copied from the native 2569x1440 resolution.

Every time it is applied with any of the 3 above, its applied top to middle and not centered. As soon as i change the Aspect ratio setting in AMD - it readjusts, but thats just torture.

I don't think its an AMD issue because when i change the resolution from the Adapter settings (List All modes) - it's also not centered. The only place that applies it alway's centered is from System - Display settings.

Is there anything to try? Ideally, i want centered all the time.

Is there a way to read the RGB X/Y primaries from the EDID?

Yes, but not in CRU currently. It's planned for CRU 2.0. For now, you can export a .bin file and use an EDID editor such as Deltacast: https://www.deltacast.tv/products/free-s...did-editor

What monitor and what AMD GPU? Are you using GPU scaling? The aspect ratio setting should only apply to GPU-scaled resolutions. Otherwise the monitor should be in control of the scaling.

AOC Q27G3XMN. 78000XT Nitro (running DP 1.4). GPU Scaling is disabled.

I went back to my old Win 11 install (23H2) and i cannot replicate the same behavior there. Its only happening on 24H2 (with the same AMD drivers).

The monitor should tell you what resolution it's receiving somewhere in the OSD. If the monitor shows the native resolution when the problem is happening, then it's an AMD driver bug because it's not centering correctly, and it's supposed to send 2560x1080 to the monitor if GPU scaling is disabled unless it's using a refresh rate that you haven't added to 2560x1080. If the monitor shows 2560x1080, then the monitor is not centering correctly. Either way, you might have better luck with GPU scaling and using this instead: https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Threa...Editor-SRE

I tried SRE and had the same result. Then I wondered if I would got the same behavior on HDMI and I did not! Surprisingly it was always perfectly centered.

Then I switched back to DP, and now it's centered all the time. That is very bizarre behavior! It's almost like a reminder from HDMI is needed to center the resolution and then apply that to DP.

Is that even a thing? Dodgy

Question: If i get a vega56 , do you think that in Linux i'll be able to use Interlaced resolutions with the newest drivers? i wanna play the new games but i wanna use interlaced.
