Help with CRU settings (Samsung odyssey G + RX 9070 XT)
Hi guys
Posting this in hope that someone here can help me out. Tried countless searches and settings, but I realize that I need help from someone with more knowledge ![]() I have recently gotten a new PC with a Raden RX 9700 XT and the VRAM frequency stays at 2505MHz indefinitely (both in Adrenaline and HWMonitor), and it causes the memory temps to go up, and the power consumption is typically 45W in idle, which is not ideal. I realize that I might have to play around with the monitor settings through CRU, but I don't know which handles to pull and by how much. I tried fiddling around with "blanking", but honestly I don't know what value I should be using and why. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have attached the settings from CRU. Thanks in advance ![]() |

Are you using multiple monitors or just one? Run reset-all.exe and restart. Then run this and post the edid-test.txt file here: https://www.monitortests.com/edid-test.zip

I tried reset-all with both 60hz and 165hz (both in 4k) and the results of edid are attached (don't know if there is any difference between them). Funnily enough, I can run 60hz with low VRAM frequency after toggling silent/auto/performance on/off in ASUS' tweaker program and after that the frequency stays low - also after restart. With 165hz it is not working. |

Are you sure you ran reset-all.exe? I still see an override. The EDID will not change just from changing the refresh rate.

The monitor has additional extension blocks that CRU doesn't currently show. The default 165 Hz does have reduced vertical blanking, but I'm not sure if the monitor can handle the normal amount. Try importing this file:

I can import and apply the settings (with restart.exe) and the monitor displays everything correctly, but unfortunately there is no change in VRAM frequency and the power consumption goes up. |

Do I need to change additional settings other than loading the file?
I have tried fiddling a bit with the blanking time in both the native resolution and the extension block, but I can't get it to work. 60hz works, though. |

Normally with a single monitor, increasing the vertical blanking is the solution, so if that's not working, then there must be some other limitation causing the VRAM clock to not drop when idle. Maybe it's because of DSC. You'll have to ask AMD support about that because I'm not aware of any other limitations that would cause this.

Just to be able to explain to AMD in case I need to. A couple of additional questions: - Can I raise the vertical blanking as much as I want, or is there a limit? (Maybe there is no reason to do so?) - Do I need to raise the vertical blanking in the native/detailed resolution section, in the extension block section or both places? Thanks |
