What would be the difference Strobe beta 4 for 3 Swaped?
I'm using version 3 swaped because the beta 4 works only in windowed mode. I have gtx 670 EVGA! |

I don't want to lose 1920 pixels from my screen ":D". I just want games to run at 144hz like they ran before I tried Strobelight. Strobelight like fucked up everything. |

If it was working before, then something else changed unrelated to Strobelight. The strobelight-setup.exe program only installs an EDID override, and choosing "Reset this display (uninstall)" removes the override. No other changes are made to the system. The main strobelight.exe program does not make any changes. Are you sure the monitor is running at 60 Hz? Check the monitor's menu under System Setup -> Information. Does it say 60 Hz? I can't think of any reason why it would automatically switch to 60 Hz if 144 Hz is available. That normally doesn't happen unless you add a custom resolution using the NVIDIA control panel without installing an appropriate INF file, but you don't need to do that to get 144 Hz. EDID overrides wouldn't cause this either. In fact, EDID overrides are usually used to fix problems like this, but you shouldn't need one with the VG248QE. If you want to try this, use Custom Resolution Utility to import this file: vg248qe-144-120-60.dat The NVIDIA control panel also has a "Preferred refresh rate" option under "Manage 3D settings" that can be set to "Highest available" to force some games to run at 144 Hz, but this shouldn't be needed with CS:GO. If neither of those options help, then I have no idea what's causing the problem. |

If the order of enumerated refresh rates changes, the game switches to a different refresh rate. Sometimes game patches change a game's refresh rate switching behavior. This may or may not be the issue, but worth knowing... Thanks, Mark Rejhon Owner of BlurBusters.com and TestUFO.com |

RE: Strobelight - LightBoost Utility for AMD/ATI and NVIDIA
Hi guys I am new here.
I tried to install the strobelight utility, it kinds work but I lost 3d vision effect. My 3d vision only comes up in red/cyan now. I dont want red cyan I want the original 3d vision. setup is i7 3770k @4.5 gig hertz 16GB Corsair dominator ram, Asus GTX 780, Monitor = Benq XL2411T I installed the first link, then restarted. I then noticed I lost 3d vision came back to the post and saw that 3d vision users should use the second link. I then installed the second one. But 3d vision still does not work. I am at a loss with how this works. I understand that get it reduces motion blur. But I dont really understand how. I also do not understand what is meant by the term strobe. My monitor has a responses 1ms G2G i belive that means Grey 2 Grey I dont really get what that is all about either. LOL!! I am quite nooby with all this. LOL!! I think the best option for me would be to uninstal both versions of strobelight I think thier both on the compute conflicting with each other and then just reinstall the one that is approraite for 3d vission. But the other puzzling problem I had was selecting the correct refresh rates upon installation. I did not really know which refresh rates to pick. My monitor can go up to 144 hertz and ideally for 2D gaming I'd like it to play at 144 hertz I understand that if you wanna go 3D gaming it has to be 120 only as it is 60 hertz per eye. I await your guys response Thanx for reading guys and thanks to toasty x for the application Oh yeahh another questions I wanted to ask is... Would using lightboost during 2d gaming to reduce motion blur, "reduce" the longetivity of my monitor or my gpu for that matter ? thanx |

Persistence is the actual cause of motion blur. Many 2ms LCD monitors actually have 16.7ms of persistence. GtG is not the same thing as persistence. Too bad manufacturers quote GtG, and not persistence. (02-15-2014 07:13 PM)Wildman Wrote: I am at a loss with how this works. I understand that get it reduces motion blur. But I dont really understand how. I also do not understand what is meant by the term strobe.Strobing makes the backlight flicker in sync with the refresh rate. Motion blur is caused by persistence of vision combined with sample and hold displays. Sample and hold displays like LCD monitors leave the image on the screen for the entire refresh, so the image that sticks to your eyes blends with the image that's still on the screen, causing a blurring effect when your eyes are following motion. Strobing eliminates that by only turning on the backlight for a split second, so there's nothing left on the screen to blend with while your eyes are moving. This is why CRT monitors have clear motion. (02-15-2014 07:13 PM)Wildman Wrote: My monitor has a responses 1ms G2G i belive that means Grey 2 GreyResponse time is how long the pixels take to change from one color to another. This can vary depending on what colors are involved. Slow response times can cause ghosting or trailing effects. Just make sure you are running the correct version of strobelight.exe. The setup program already selects 120 Hz and 121 Hz for you. You can add 144 Hz if you want, but LightBoost monitors can't strobe at 144 Hz. (02-15-2014 07:13 PM)Wildman Wrote: Would using lightboost during 2d gaming to reduce motion blur, "reduce" the longetivity of my monitor or my gpu for that matter ?No, the backlight flickers anyway to control brightness. LightBoost just reduces the flicker rate to match the refresh rate. |
