I don't know what you mean. There's no way to do anything like that with EDID overrides, and I don't see how that would solve your problem.

Games that do that usually can't handle higher refresh rates properly anyway. One option is to create a separate resolution like 1920x1078 for different refresh rates. If the monitor has scaling options or if you're using GPU scaling, make sure it's set to aspect scaling so it doesn't blur the image.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello Toasty/everybody else,

I'm running a Qnix 2710 + r9 290 Catalyst 14.4, and while 120hz works fine on my desktop, anytime I try to open a game it gives me a garbled screen, even when I ctrl+alt+del and I have to reboot. I was skimming through this thread/looking for keywords about this but 92 pages is a lot to go through, so I apologize if this has been addressed. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I tested this on my girlfriend's computer with a 660ti using EVGA Precision and it has no issues in games... so I think I may have configured something incorrectly.

if it helps:

AMD FX 8320 @ stock
XFX R9 290 @ stock
Monoprice Dual-Link DVI cable
Catalyst 14.4

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
When I add three detailed resolutions, the monitor description goes away. Is this by design?

The monitor name requires a detailed resolution slot, so it won't be included if there are four detailed resolutions.

I've only heard of that happening with when playing a video with the memory clock overclocked or when loading a game with a broken CrossFire setup. That shouldn't happen with a single card running at stock.

What timing parameters are you using? The blanking/totals might be too low for the GPU to handle.

Hello ToastyX,

I cannot lower my refresh rate (1440p@60) to something like 50 or 30 Hz. May I know what is the problem here?

Thank you.

You should be able to if the monitor can handle it. What monitor do you have? What happens if you try to lower the refresh rate? If the refresh rate is listed but the monitor won't display it, then the monitor can't handle lower refresh rates.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi,
first of all thanks for providing us your great tool! Smile
Here comes my question...
i am using Nvidia Driver 337.88 (on Geforce GTX 770 from Asus)

my screens used for my Triple Screen setup:
2 side screens (22 inch - 1680 x 1050):
Synchronization Range
Horizontal (Analog/Digital) 31.5-82.3 kHz
Vertical 56-75 Hz

Center Screen( 24 inch - 1920 x 1200)
Synchronization Range
Horizontal (Analog/Digital) 31.5-81.1 kHz
Vertical 56-76 Hz

I wanted to create a working setup with 1680*1050 for each screen.
it is working good but after a reboot, the "effect" has gone and the screens turn back to 60 Hz instead of 58 which I set for all screens before with CRU.
I already tried both methods for Nvidia cards ( disable the extension block and make sure GeForce Experience and Samsung Magician are not installed, or enable the extension block and import this file: blank-extension.dat)
Is this an issue with the current Nvidia driver?
I created an attachement (screenshot)

i use the CRU to get rid of this issue:

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello!

What settings for 75Hz refresh rate can you recommend for me? I'm using Dell 2414H connected via DisplayPort cable with my new GTX 780.

Thanks!

My monitor is Crossover 27Q. Native is 2560x1440@60 Hz.

Should I patch the driver?
