Help explain EDID file
Hi can anyone explain why 2560x1440 is not in the standard timings from the below EDID?
The reason i ask is because I am having issues getting the native resolution via HDMI. Thanks in advanced Monitor Model name............... TBD Manufacturer............. WOR Plug and Play ID......... It doesn't need to be added as a standard timing. It's not possible anyway because of EDID limitations. You're having issues getting the native resolution because HDMI often has a 165 MHz pixel clock limit, but 2560x1440 @ 60 Hz requires 241.5 MHz. The monitor also defines a 165 MHz maximum TMDS clock limit, which affects AMD/ATI and Intel drivers. CRU with the hdmi.dat file and the pixel clock patchers can get around this limit for AMD/ATI and NVIDIA drivers. I don't have a solution for Intel. You can try adding 2560x1440 @ 40 Hz if the monitor can support that. |

RE: Help explain EDID file
thanks, that makes sense, using customresolutionapp with the intel app i only get the option of selecting 39 Hz before it complains their isnt enough bandwidth, while using 39Hz all i get is a black screen. However using Linux from this laptop the native resolution works at 60Hz and also while using a MacBook Pro i am also able to achieve this. Just seems strange in Windows 7 and 8.1 i am unable.
However thanks for your help. |
