RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello,
I have a Asus VS248H, was able to get to 73hz with LSD reduced and I think I've hit the 165hz DVI limit. The patch doesn't help. Should I buy a dual link DVI to remove the limit? Will I get higher hz with dual link DVI?

Using a dual-link DVI cable with a single-link DVI monitor won't make a difference. You might have better luck with HDMI instead.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi,
I am having issues reaching anything past 60hz (1920x1080 60hz). My monitor (Acer GN246HL) is capable of 144hz via DVI-D. I am using my display port on my laptop (Origin EON 17 slx with 680m sli) that i'm using with a PowerColor Active DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI-D Adapter. NVIDIA control panel lets me set a test a custom resolution succesfully, but when I save it never shows up as an option. Windows monitor settings only allows me to select 60hz. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can't use a single-link DVI adapter for 144 Hz. You need a dual-link DVI adapter like this: Accell B087B-007B DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual-Link Adapter with 3D Support

Big thanks for the quick reply and the utility! HDMI didn't help. Maybe I need the new 1.4b one... But I noticed, that 74hz equals 165hz, but 75hz equals something like 164.65hz. Strangely, but 75hz works, though 74hz doesn't. 76hz and higher doesn't work also. Will try the patch again, but 75hz already looks like a good result.

By the way, what are the cons of LSD reduced?

There are no cons to the monitor, but the video card might not reduce the memory clock when idle if the vertical blanking/total is reduced. "LCD reduced" just tries to reduce the timing parameters for certain resolutions to fit within 165 MHz or 330 MHz. It doesn't need to reduce 74 Hz as much as 75 Hz, so the timing is different and ends up leaving a little headroom for 75 Hz. You can try the 75 Hz timing parameters with 74 Hz, but 72-74 Hz have the same timing parameters and that didn't seem to help. I've also seen monitors where 75 Hz wouldn't work at all but 77-80 Hz did work, so it can depend on the monitor's hardware.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
I have the ASUS PB287Q UHD monitor with CrossfireX AMD 7970's video cards through Displayport 1.2 and it lacks the resolution 2560x1440 as I used CRU to add this resolution at 60hz, however when I turn VSYNC on for some games it locks it down to 30hz. Could you guys assist me with some insight as to why this is happening?

After selecting Automatic - LCD Standard

When playing Battlefield 4 i'm able to get 60hz after changing my resolution from 2560x1440 @ 60hz to 30hz and back to 60hz in game.

It changes it to "Manual" once you've done so. Try it... Smile
