RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Great thread! I manage to get 4K @30Hz with a Radeon 6870. With that said, I'm greedy and want more. Can I get 4K @ 60Hz with a miniDisplay port to HDMI 2.0 active adapter? More specially, this particular adapter.

Club 3D Mini DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 4K60Hz UHD Active Adapter.

My JS8500 is capable of 4K - 4:4:4 - 60Hz but no display port so I'm stuck with HDMI 2.0 connections only.

That adapter is capable but I don't know if the 6870 supports the required bandwidth through DisplayPort.

Back when I was using a 6850 with CCC it definitely broke, but with my 380/Crimson it seems to render using hardware acceleration just fine. Is this just me, or does this patch no longer break hardware support under Crimson?
AMD started allowing videos to play with the patch back around 14.4, but hardware acceleration is still broken. Some videos will start off black and corrupted unless you follow the workaround in the main post to install the codecs and disable the Microsoft DTV-DVD video decoders. I don't know if this affects newer cards, but 7000-series and older cards are still affected.

This video is a good example:

Where would I find the spec to confirm that? Would it be the memory bandwidth? It has 134.4 GB/sec listed which I believe is enough for 4K, 60Hz, 4:4:4 w/ 8 bit panel.

PS - It's not easy being an early adopter, I been playing 4K demo files on the tv lol

Hopefully HDMI 2.0a will come soon, then I can do 10 bit w/ 4:4:4

There is no spec for that. I'm talking about DisplayPort bandwidth.

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
I've applied the patch, everything said updated. After some tweaking, I've discovered that anything below 166 mHz I don't have any problems, but if I push it to exactly 166 or anywhere at all beyond that my display says the timing is out of range. Is this the limit of my monitor?

"Out of range" means the monitor is rejecting the resolution. 166 MHz sounds like a monitor limit. If it were a driver limit, 165.00 MHz would work but 165.01 MHz would not.

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Hello
I registered just o say THANK YOU ! to toasty !!!! I have a benq xl2411z monitor and using a sapphire r9 fury with 3 dp and 1 hdmi, my problem is i cant get to 1080p @ 144hz, no matter what type of cable i used it simply does not allow me, i tried the monitor on a 7950 flexx dvi to dvi cable and voila it works on 144hz @ 1080p with no problem, i even after the patch from taosty( which i am greatefull i was able to achieve 120hz with flickering and artifacts, but at least its something after the patch) couldnt get to 144hz.Can anyone please help me out, currently i have dvi-d to dp cable and am staying on stable 60hz. My monitor is new and i can change it with one with a DP port on it, BUT i want to know if it can be fixed since i like THIS model, if not, then do tell me if dp to dp will run 1080p @ 144hz with no problems. I am also on windows 7 ultimate x64 sp1 and with latest crimson 16.1 drivers, also tried on the previous ones 15.12 and the ones latest before crimson 15.11.1 - same results. PLEASE ADVICE I AM SUPER FRUSTRATED ,MAD AND LOST FAITH !!! THANK YOU <3

You need to use dual-link DVI or DisplayPort to get 144 Hz. You can't use any adapters. For 120 Hz, try using CRU to add it as a detailed resolution using the "LCD reduced" timing option. That might help with the flickering and artifacts.

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Trying to download atikmdag-patcher-1.3.6.zip but Windows Defender detected Trojan:Win32/Varpes.L!plock and prevented me from opening the file.

Anyone with similar encounter?
