So I imported the dat file (below), it worked only the first time I rebooted my PC.. then it's having the exactly the same issue - reboot/sleep/wake will reset my resolution to 2560x1600. What's this .dat file for? I also tried to play with extension blocks, but I have no clue what to enter..

When this happens, is 3840x1600 not available in the Windows display settings at all until you run restart.exe?

The .dat file simply includes an extension block with HDMI support. The default extension block should already have HDMI support, but CRU can't read extension blocks with Intel GPUs. I was just checking to see if manually overriding it would work around the problem. You can change the type back to "Default extension block" to use the monitor's default extension block.

Correct. When the PC wakes up, there's no 3840x1600 available. And also not in the adapter's 'List All modes' list. (btw, it listed 29Hz, but i entered 30Hz in the setup, not sure why is that).

And It looks like I do need the 'default extension block', otherwise it will not work.. but there's nothing in the default extension block?

2 quick questions:
1. does this problem happen to all intel HD 530 adapters? or is this related to the high resolution I have.
2. Is there any tool other than the 'restart.exe' to just reset the external monitor (just like unplug/replug). Running the 'restart.exe' seems to reset both of my laptop's LCD and the external monitor, which causes all my windows/icons to rearrange.

You said 3840x1600 is not available, but then you say 29 Hz is available. Does it stick if you choose 29 Hz? Is 30 Hz available after running restart.exe? If you can't use 60 Hz regardless, try deleting the 59.993 Hz resolution and see if that works around the problem.

What doesn't work with hdmi.dat? You said it did work the first time, and then you had the same issue as before. What you showed me should be enough to get 3840x1600 @ 30 Hz working with HDMI. As I said, CRU can't read extension blocks with Intel GPUs, but the default extension block should include HDMI support.

I'm not familiar with Intel GPUs, so I don't know what issues they have or how to work around them. Intel didn't even support EDID overrides until recently, so these issues are new to me. 3840x1600 @ 30 Hz should work fine with HDMI 1.4. 60 Hz requires HDMI 2.0. Does your laptop have DisplayPort?

Restarting the graphics driver affects all monitors using that GPU. I'm not aware of any method to reset a single monitor. Running restart.exe should restore the window positions after restarting.

29Hz is not available either. 29/30 either both show up or neither does. I tried both 29/30Hz, they dont work. want I dont understand was why I enter 30Hz in the tool, but 29Hz also shows up in the 'mode list'. I also tried deleting the 59.9Hz, doesn't work either. I guess, i probably will give up.. just restart my video card each time i restart the PC - Or I guess I need a new laptop to match up with the new monitor.

Anyone else having issues using the interlaced setting? Every time I set it it halves the screen size and leaves that burning look on the bottom half of the screen.

I wouldn't be using it were it not for the fact that my horizontal rate can't go above 70khz or so, so I've been unable to get above 64hz.

Speaking of, here are my settings for that:
Monitor Name: Chi Mei [Unknown Model: CMN15D2]

H: 1920, 88, 44, 118, 250, 2170, +
V: 1080, 2, 4, 3, 9, 1089, +

That gives a 64.279 hz refresh rate at a 70 khz horizontal rate with a 151.90 khz pixel clock.

It halves the screen size because that's how interlaced resolutions work. 1920x1080i = 1920x540 fields. The EDID defines the field size, and the equivalent frame size is calculated and shown on the right.

Is that a monitor or a laptop screen? Laptop screens normally don't support interlaced resolutions. They can only display the native resolution because they don't have scalers. To fill the screen, you'd have to double the number of lines, making it 1920x2160i. That will end up being vertically squished and won't give you a higher refresh rate.

Microsoft wants refresh rates like 29 Hz to exist for TV resolutions, so it's automatically added by the graphics driver: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help...ted-settin

If that doesn't help, then I'm out of ideas. This is something Intel would need to fix.
