RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
What are you doing using CRU if you don't even know what an EDID is?!!! LMAO!! And again, CRU DOES NOT CHANGE ANY SYSTEM SETTINGS and DOES NOT CHANGE SCALING SETTINGS. It creates a NEW EDID, that's why you have to readjust your settings. The program does not change ANY settings on its own! The EDID is a software STUB that contains information about your monitor's capabilities, THAT'S ALL. YOU ARE RIDICULOUS... Wow.... And why did you write me a 10 page story as a response, LOL. Btw... I don't read ten page stories on forums so I apologize but I read the first few words, that was enough.

Because that's what you're doing. And if you are oblivious to that, then that's remarkable. Quote:And again, CRU DOES NOT CHANGE ANY SYSTEM SETTINGS and DOES NOT CHANGE SCALING SETTINGS. Not a point of discussion. And putting your words in caps expresses that you're desperate. Quote:It creates a NEW EDID, that's why you have to readjust your settings. Wrong. To have to readjust settings means they were adjusted previously. In this case, the Windows scaling option on its own changed from 100% to 200% after applying a CRU edit. Therefore, there was no need to readjust a configuration, but to adjust it for the first time after applying CRU resulting in a setting changing on its own. Quote:YOU ARE RIDICULOUS... Wow.... And why did you write me a 10 page story as a response, LOL. Btw... And your desperation to have me think you didn't read it tells me that you did. Remember, I didn't make you look stupid - I just pointed out your doing that to yourself. |

The EDID does contain screen size information that could affect the default scaling, but CRU does not change this information, so this seems like a graphics driver bug, which is why I asked about the video card. The fact that the scaling automatically changed to 200% while still showing 100% in the settings shows this is a bug in something and not normal behavior. CRU has managed to reveal some odd driver bugs and hardware limitations in the past, so it's helpful to know about issues that happen while using CRU even if CRU is not the direct cause. |

It may reveal driver bugs and limitations but it does nothing to the monitor hardware/firmware itself OR any system or driver settings. The idea that a monitor will retain settings somehow after being powered off and unplugged because of CRU is ridiculous. I just think people should understand the difference between what software, hardware and firmware is and at least look up what an EDID is before using the tool. It seems a little ridiculous that someone would use the tool when they don't even know what an EDID is. It makes me smile because it's just funny to think about honestly. But hey, I am constantly reminded that reality is stranger than fiction. Anyway, I'm going to donate ten dollars to you no matter what in a couple days because I've been using CRU for a long time and it helped me with my last Acer monitor.(09-18-2019 01:08 PM)pabloa2 Wrote: What are you doing using CRU if you don't even know what an EDID is?!!!
