ToastyX please help me, I have a SyncMaster 794MB plus CRT monitor, and with it using its CRU tool I can force resolutions of 640x480p 144hz, 1024x768i 162hz, 640x480i 162hz. And I have some doubts.
Why can not I put 640x480p 162hz, and I can 1024x768i 162hz? Is there any way to force 1024x768p 144hz or 162hz?
Or 640x480p 162hz?

And does the interlaced signal work as efficiently as the progressive signal? At least in a matter of movement on the screen, forgetting the quality. For example, when selecting the option it appears as 1024x768i 81hz and not 1024x768i 162hz.

I use a 7970 ghz DUAL-X here

Are you asking about adding resolutions or about the monitor displaying the resolutions? If you can add 1024x768i @ 162 Hz, then you should be able to add 640x480p @ 162 Hz, but whether or not the monitor will display the resolution is a different question. The specs state the monitor supports a horizontal scan rate up to 70 kHz, which would allow 1024x768i @ 162 Hz but not 640x480p @ 162 Hz. If you can add 640x480p @ 144 Hz, then the actual limit might be higher. You'll have to test what the monitor will accept.

Windows lists the frame rate, while CRU uses the field rate. Visually, the movement updates at the field rate. It's just missing half the lines per refresh. You can check by adding 80 Hz interlaced, which Windows will list as 40 Hz interlaced, but it will be smoother than 40 Hz progressive and won't flicker as badly.

I am asking both.

I can put 640x480p (144hz), 1024x768i (162hz) and 640x480i (162hz). But what I do not understand is precisely because I can not put 640x480p 162hz. Since the monitor supports 1024x768i (162hz) which is already a high value.

So in the visual matter (movement) it is really showing 162hz. if you put 640x480i (162hz) or 1024x768i (162hz) against 640x480p 144hz, will the resolutions (640x480i (162hz) and 1024x768i (162hz) win?

one thing i forgot to mention is that i use the
HDMI to VGA converter.

Anyway, is there any way to force more than that?
For I do not think for example that 640x480p 144hz is the limit of this monitor. it should surely support 145hz up to 160hz at least at this resolution, and the weirdest thing is that at 1024x768p the maximum I can climb is up to 90hz, and the monitor already comes with 85hz enabled.

If Windows lists the resolution but the monitor won't display it, that's probably because of the horizontal scan rate limit. 640x480p @ 162 Hz has a higher horizontal scan rate than 1024x768i @ 162 Hz. CRU shows you the horizontal scan rate under the refresh rate in the detailed resolution dialog. It's the total number of lines per second.

The first number looks like the horizontal scan rate, and the second is the refresh rate. The PN is the horizontal/vertical sync polarity: P for positive, N for negative. PN would be +/-. The sync polarity doesn't matter with most monitors.

It does make sense if you take into account the horizontal scan rate limit. The monitor is programmed not to go past certain limits to prevent damaging the monitor, so there isn't a way around that.

Windows lists the resolution, but after applying it the monitor does not display. The screen goes black and displays "HZ".

I would prefer 640x480p @ 144 Hz because the difference between 144 Hz and 162 Hz isn't really noticeable but the difference between progressive and interlaced is.

I don't have a GPU just the Ryzen 3 APU and nothing else. If I use a VGA connector should it work? My monitor is LG 22MP48HQ-P. i tried to follow the steps in youtube but my monitor went black after saving the changes. I opened the CRU 1.4 then under detailed resolution click on Add and changed the Refresh rate to 75hz. That's all I did, but when I tried to use restart 64, my screen went black and now I am only using VGA. The first one I used is a DVI-D to HDMI connector as my motherboard does not have an HDMI so I have to use an adapter HDMI to connect to the monitor. Can you please provide me the steps on how to set my monitor to 75hz?

APU is fine. Is there any confirmation that the 22MP48HQ will accept 75 Hz at the native resolution? Simply adding a resolution shouldn't make the monitor go black unless it was automatically chosen for some reason, but even if it did, you should have been able to press F8 after running restart64.exe to temporarily undo the changes. If for some reason the driver crashed and the screen stays blank after rebooting, you should be able to start Windows in safe mode and run reset-all.exe and reboot to undo the changes. Since you can connect the monitor two different ways, it might be easier to just connect it the other way instead of booting into safe mode.

I don't know if it will accept 75 Hz with VGA, but I would rather use DVI/HDMI to avoid image quality issues. You might have to use "LCD reduced" timing to get 75 Hz to work. If the monitor won't display 75 Hz, sometimes 72-74 Hz will work.
