Even though it says 330 MHz pixel clock, supposedly it can handle around 400 MHz pixel clock. You might not be able to get 110 Hz, but 100 Hz should be possible. Those adapters use DisplayPort, so the patch shouldn't be needed. You might run into problems adding custom resolutions if the laptop has switchable graphics. You'd have to add the custom resolution using Intel's control panel and not NVIDIA's, and I don't know what restrictions Intel has. |

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Hey Toasty, thank you for your continouos work on this patch.
I have just updated my graphics drivers from 13.9 to 13.12 and am experiencing problems, although I'm unable to completely pin down their origin. With driver version 13.9 and a 1.1 version of your patch I was able to run my QNIX QX2710 on 2560x1440@120Hz just fine. Now that I've updated to 13.12 and applied the most recent version of the patch, it reports that it patched all the limits, but I am still unable to select the custom resolutions I created with CRU. I've already tried completely removing all AMD drivers from my PC, rebooting, then reinstalling them, then rebooting again before applying the patch, still, the result wasn't different. I've also reset all EDID's using CRU, rebooted and then configured the monitor's again, still, in vain. Even disabling avast! during patching, attempts to set the refresh rate using DisplayFusion and enabling/disabling testmode and rebooting did not help with this. The Catalyst Control Center even reports the monitor at a max. resolution of 2560x1440@120Hz, but I just can't seem to apply it. I have attached two screenshots showing the CCC, the patcher and CRU; I hope you can help me in some way. |

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Use the arrow buttons to order the refresh rates from highest to lowest, and remove all the non-2560x1440 resolutions because that monitor can't handle them. Enable GPU scaling if you want to use lower resolutions. The extension block should also be disabled because the monitor doesn't actually have one, but that shouldn't make a difference with AMD cards.

Now I'm only able to select 120Hz as the refresh rate, but that doesn't really bother me, as it is the only one I'd use anyway. Although I am unable to activate GPU scaling in any way, I can select it and apply it, but it just reverts itself directly. |

Did you delete 1920x1080 @ 120.003 Hz? 2560x1440 @ 120 Hz needs to be listed first and not 1920x1080 @ 120.003 Hz. You shouldn't need to add any lower resolutions. 1920x1080 and other standard resolutions should be available as scaled resolutions even if you don't add them. AMD's driver is really weird about GPU scaling. You have to switch to a lower resolution to set it, and sometimes the setting won't stick with certain resolutions. |

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
I'm posting to report something weird,
Just installed the 13.20 RC3 drivers, and the patcher shows this : CRU is the same as before, but 120hz doesn't show up. |

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
I'm not familiar with that version. It looks like a non-standard release. The patcher needs to be updated to work with the new driver. Try this: https://www.monitortests.com/atikmdag-patcher-1.2.3.zip

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Wow. That was quick to get a new version out. I just signed up here to say thanks. Works like a charm with 13.30. I am nowhere near technically inclined enough to be helpful. But I can show gratitude to those that are, and are willing to share.
Thanks Again. -Kyle |

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Please help, I used this patch a few weeks ago to overclock my Qnix with my AMD HD7850, recently I ordered a GTX780 to replace the 7850. While waiting for the new card I figured I'd practice wiping all AMD drivers to be ready for any problems when the new card arrived. I uninstalled catalyst, ran 'reset-all' with CRU, did what this site said to restore to unpatch, and then I went through and manually removed all traces of AMD drivers.
After I did the full AMD wipe I did a fresh AMD driver install without this patcher. After this when I try to benchmark or run a game it crashes and says something like 'your graphic driver stopped responding but has been fixed' other times it would lock up completely, and one time I had a BSOD. I then did the full AMD wipe again and installed my GTX780 hoping that it being completely different drivers would fix the problem but it didn't. I'm still getting lock ups and crashes. It's seems to me the patcher has changed something in the registry (regarding graphics) that I cannot repair. Can someone please point me to all the files changed by the patcher so I can manually replace them and get my system working again (without patch)? It would be greatly appreciated because my only other option is to format and start fresh with a clean OS install. |
