I can no longer play movies all i get is black screen..I tried your fix..There is not even a ATI mpeg video decoder selection in there.I thought there was but i must have seen ATI audio instead....Please help.

It looks like they changed the name to "AMD Video Decoder" in a recent update, but that might not help with playing movies. I recommend using something other than Windows Media Center for movies.

hi am using the acer gd235hz and i am at 1920x1080 @ 120hz i wanna stay the same resolution just wanna increase the hz to 130-144 even 125 would be great for a start toasty plz help what values should i set in cru i have patched it with the pixel patcher and try cru but it says unsupported after restart check this http://gyazo.com/3dc312d966030437f5896286ec2e7518

If "LCD standard" doesn't work at 125 Hz, then I doubt the GD235HZ will accept more than 121/122 Hz no matter what values you put in. The patch won't help with this.

hello I'm from Argentina, sorry for my bad English (google translate xD) I would ask about AMD pixel patch, apparently does not work for me. My system components:
Alienware AW2310 1920x1080 120hz monitor
Dual link DVI cable (original monitor)
MSI 6850 video card overclock edition
Catalyst 11.9 driver
OS windows 7 ultimate x64

64 bits testmode.exe "ok" and Pixel clock patcher "ok" Correctly.

The problem is that the limited pixel clock to 279 MHz "max"

Refresh rate =110hz
not interlaced
Pixel clock =279.37 <----- u.u!
 
value 300 MHz not work, something is wrong?

The patch is for removing the 165 MHz and 330 MHz DVI limits. It won't help with your situation. That monitor probably can't handle higher pixel clocks, and CRU is not intended for downscaling.

Thanks Smile, what would you recommend display model that can handle higher resolutions, higher refresh rates and ligthboost at an affordable price?

Higher resolutions and higher refresh rates don't usually work together. Downscaling should be done through the video card, not the monitor, but neither AMD nor NVIDIA provide simple downscaling options that work with higher refresh rates. You're better off using antialiasing instead.

Hey ToastyX

First of all, thanks for the awesome utility (CRU), which let me ditch adlutil to get higher refresh rates on my monitor.

But I've run into a problem. The hardware I am using is an ASUS VG23AH 23" 3D monitor and an ASUS 7970 DirectCUII GPU, connected via a HDMI cable using a DVI to HDMI adapter. The monitor came at a stock default of 1080p@60Hz. I wasn't at all happy with that, so I overclocked mine to a 76Hz using aldutil, but the frames were choppy, since the pixel clock was still maxed at 165MHz.

The problem is I can't get past the 165MHz limit, even after I have used the AMD driver patcher, test mode and all that. Not in the CRU, not in adlutil, nowhere.

I found a weird workaround though - In the EDID, if I set the byte that defines the display input to A5 (DisplayPort), I can get past that 165MHz limit in CRU (adlutil still won't work). I am running at 1080p@85Hz (which is around 203MHz) with custom settings and no problems whatsoever. BUT, AMD HD3D won't work under this configuration. Yes, it works without the EDID override.

I've noticed that if I keep everything else intact, and set the display input byte to A2 (HDMI 1.4a), AMD HD3D starts working, but I can't get past 165Hz (with my resolution and timings, it's maxed at 1080p@66.666Hz). So I am stuck... If I want 85Hz, I can't use HD3D. If I use HD3D, I am stuck at 67Hz.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks again ToastyX.

P.S. I don't know why HD3D works with my default config though (DVI to HDMI adapter). I have a dual link adapter, and it doesn't work with that. Is the single link adapter special? It came with the GPU btw... Did ASUS do something special to it?
