In Madvr, a new identification is used but it nullifies all my wide gamut colours and HDR formats as well as displaying only 8 bit colour (as opposed to 8/10/12 bit originally) and while displaying HDR video as SDR.There might be other information in the default DisplayID extension block that might be needed for HDR, but CRU can't read the extension block because NVIDIA's driver won't provide more than one extension block. If you can find some way to dump the full EDID with the DisplayID extension block, then you can import it into CRU. If you have access to an AMD GPU, it should be able to read it. If not, maybe there's some way using Linux. I have managed to get hold of Monitor asset manager by Entech. Will this allow me to dump the full edid with displayID - btw it is the only edid manager i found that allowed me to save the extension block information - If so, what are the steps i would take with CRU to circumvent Nvidia's limitation of only reading one extension block? |

Tnx for answer,do you mean to delete default extension blocks with CRU or find somewhere else in files? |

Why do you have three extension blocks? Why did you delete the detailed resolutions? Where is the HDMI data block that I told you to add? You need one extension block with HDMI support and 4:2:0 resolutions. You need one detailed resolution to define the native resolution. |

You can save the EDID as a .bin file and then import the file with CRU. |

Problem is that when I change something with CRU and then when I either turn monitor off and then on (manually or through windows) or enter sleep mode and then resume working, screen became fading, like there some dark filter on screen. It return to normal if I change resolution or refresh rate or turn off/on gpu scaling in driver settings. This problem occur with all Adrenalin 2020 Edition drivers, but previous 2019 Edition drivers works fine.Sounds like an HDR bug in the driver. If you don't need HDR, try turning off HDR in the Windows display settings. If that doesn't help, try deleting any HDR metadata blocks in the extension block. Hi, Was there ever a solution found to this problem? Tried searching this thread, but didnt find any further discussion. I have the same problem and haven't been able to use CRU with AMD 2020 drivers. There is a thread about this on AMD forums: https://community.amd.com/thread/246376 There is a proposed solution of enabling 10bit pixel format under Graphics settings. While enabling it removes the dimming problem, it effectively brokes Freesync functionality as 3D apps become totally unusable flickery and stuttery mess. Plus lots of screen blackouts during launching and exiting 3D applications. Im using Vega GPU and Samsung CF791 display. Anything that could be tried? |

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hey ToastyX! I'm hoping you can help.
I have an Acer ED273UR 1440/144Hz display connected to my gaming PC (RX 5700 XT) with DP, 1440, Freesync, all good. Nintendo Switch on the HDMI input, also good (though 1080p obv). On the DVI input, I have a Thinkpad dock connected to an HDMI KVM, then to the monitor with an HDMI-DVI cable. The dock is shared between a T450s (i5-5300U) and X270 (i5-6300U). When I first connected this, it was finicky, but it worked at 1440/60 (albeit with very minor artifacts). Something happened yesterday and now it refuses to recognize 2560x1440 as an available resolution. I tried creating a custom resolution in the Intel control panel but I get "The custom resolution exceeds the bandwidth capacity." I downloaded CRU and added 1440/60 to the Detailed Resolutions, but it's still not available. Not sure if the Intel driver links on the first post of this thread are accurate, but they reference v15 and I'm on v20 and v26. The Intel links also say the drivers are only for Win 7 and 8.1, but I'm on 10. If I connect the HDMI cable to the Thinkpad dock, it recognizes 1440 fine. I'm hoping there's some way I can capture this config and then force it even when it's unavailable. |

I don't know which drivers work with EDID overrides. The way they handle drivers is confusing. They have a bunch of different driver versions and multiple branches for different GPUs instead of a single unified driver like AMD and NVIDIA. Newer drivers should work, but some people had issues with DCH drivers. |
