RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
I'm trying to run a triple monitor setup for a racing title without using Nvidia Surround. But whenever I try to establish a custom resolution of 5760 x 1080 the 5760 turns red and I don't know why this is?

Some other AMD drivers can do the color output thing right, but for some reason these versions do not have built in tool for resolution adjustment. Here would come the CRU. But whenever I add any custom resolution slot (does not matter whether I actually use it or not) after restart the windows background keeps flashing every few seconds. This flashing is looking like as if the video driver would reset itself all the time because the mouse also jumps back to screen centre most of the time. Very annoying... Running reset-all.exe solves this instantly (but I also loose my custom resolution.)
Needless to say that all this was working perfectly under Win 7.
Any help would be appreciated!
That's a driver bug that affects analog connections without EDIDs. That bug was introduced years ago. I don't think they'll ever fix it. The best solution would be to get an active HDMI-VGA adapter that sends its own EDID if one isn't available. I think some of the cheaper adapters will do this, but I'm not sure which ones because it's often not an advertised feature.

Thank you!
I came to the same conclusion -by the hard way... I've spent like 10 full hours to figure this out :/
But in the end I managed to make it work, I installed the original display driver that was supplied with the motherboard: Catalyst 13.something. Obviously from well before Win 10 times, nevertheless it went up smoothly, and now it works as I expect, I hope Win 10 will not want to update it...

Hey guy, AMD user here. Do not use the old Catalyst drivers. They are waaaaaay to old to even support Windows 10 and most games will perform worse than on the latest driver. You are missing out on massive improvements to input latency and features such as Anti-Lag and Enhanced Sync, both of which can also help a ton to minimize input lag.

Normally I would agree with you but this is a HTPC, therefore 99% of it's time it will only play movies, and this old driver just happen to do this exactly as I want.

I edit the freesync range in CRU using the Edit button on the active monitor, since I'm on DisplayPort. I set it to 90-144hz, Ok twice, restart64.exe.
Then I run any game capped at 60hz, and the OSD refresh rate with G-Sync on, is at 60hz, which is wrong.
If the ranges were effectively changed, with G-Sync the OSD refresh rate should be at 120hz with LFC.
Instead LFC kicks always at around 48-50, which is the original range of the monitor.
What am I doing wrong here?
Is there a default extension block? NVIDIA's driver ignores overrides that have default extension blocks.

i am using HD5450(i sold my rx580 i am saving up for 6800). I did the ati patcher and 2560x1440p is now uncloked.

but cant i make a 100hz 1440p resolution?

i cant add anything over 1080p in the CRU

is there a way to import settings? if yes how?

thanks

my display is chg70 27

i have hdmi 2.0 and DVI to HDMI cable
There's no way you're going to get 2560x1440 @ 100 Hz over HDMI with the HD 5450. It doesn't have HDMI 2.0. What settings do you want to import? You can export the settings to a file and import the file.

hi 100hz didnt work. but i managed to add that to my list on reso settings

I reducxed to 75hz and it is saved and works just fine. its much and much better than 60fps!IdeaWink

Qualcomm Adreno - Surface Pro X
Hi - has anybody had luck using CRU.exe on the Microsoft Surface Pro X or any other Qualcomm Adreno based Windows laptop?

The exe runs OK, claims to add resolutions, but after reboot, no additional resolutions are available in the display control panel. I've tried adding via detailed resolutions and extension blocks.

What logs can I share to help diagnose?

Have VSStudio, Sysinternals, windbg etc...

The graphics driver has to support EDID overrides, and I don't think the Adreno driver does.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi,

First of all, thanks for this utility, although I have not used it yet, it seems very interesting.

But I have some doubts and precautions, because I bought a new LG CX55'' TV that has cost me € 1,200 and I don't want to break it or damage it:

Does this CRU change or affect the internal software of the TV (as It seems), or does it only affect the PC/Nvidia driver side? And if it affects the TV software (as it seems), is there any risk that it will break it or affect the TV warranty?

I'm interested in this CRU because I use my LG CX55 '' with an RTX 3080, and I'm interested in reducing motion blur that occurs when playing at 60FPS. And I read this post on Reddit yesterday about this utility:

"...But in reality there is a big, important difference - Nvidia is doing frame doubling even when the adaptive sync range isn't wide enough to cover all framerates. So if your monitor's range is 90-144Hz, you will be playing 60 fps games at 120Hz! But if your monitor has a much more common 48-144Hz range, Nvidia will still prefer native 60Hz for 60fps, just like AMD.

Now, why does it matter? Unfortunately, monitors might not look the same at all refresh rates, especially 144Hz monitors. Many VA monitors look darker at lower refresh rates, and nearly all monitors have their overdrive settings optimized for maximum refresh rates. As a result, you may have two issues with adaptive sync at lower refresh rates:

-Brightness flickering (when the monitor is rapidly switching between high and low refresh rates)
-Ghosting/overshoot (trailing behind moving objects)"

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/ap...could_amd/

I don't quite understand the logic or the procedure by which a game that runs at 60fps, goes to 120fps/hz, but as that post on Reddit says, it seems that Nvidia drivers what it does is double the fps. That seems that may will help eliminate or reduce motion blur, but before testing and learnig deeply how this CRU works, I want to know which risks there are, since my TV is new and expensive, and I don't want to break it or lose the warranty after the second week.

Thanks in advance, and lets see if I can finally find a way to reduce that motion blue at 60fps.

im on an ASUS laptop with 1050TI and i5-7300Hq
i want to try a 3:2 resolution of 1152x768
So i followed a video ,everything worked but i relaised i had no monitor option in the nvidia control panel

but i found an Intel Graphics center and tehr
i found my custom resolution, however when i change to it everything turns black and resets to 16:9 1920 by 1080
any idea why and how should i do to have my resolution?

Edit:literally just uptaded my intel graphics center and it works now LOL

CRU does not affect the hardware or firmware of the TV. It creates software EDID overrides on the PC side that are easily removed by running reset-all.exe and rebooting. Most TVs and monitors will not allow resolutions and refresh rates outside of supported limits, so they can't be damaged.
