You still have 4096x2160 @ 24 Hz in the HDMI data block. The NVIDIA control panel issue is a driver bug that needs to be reported to NVIDIA.

thank you for your hint. i didnt see the 4096 in "HDMI support" tab. now i also deleted that last entry. and now it worked. thank you so much. you are the best. ??

Maybe CRU's days are over for new Samsung TV owners with Nvidia GPUs. I can't help thinking whatever change either side made may have been intentional. I'm probably just giving them too much credit there though.
It should let you enter ABC1234 or any three-letter + 4-digit hex value. This issue is purely on NVIDIA's end.

I was able to change it and delete the protection block but still no joy. So should I attempt to take the concern to Nvidia what precisely should I request for them to address?

Tell them EDID overrides using this method don't have any effect with your particular TV and GPU: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/window...itor-edids

If they want you to provide an .inf file, you can export one using CRU. Make sure to delete the "Extension override" data block before doing so.

Mention that the problem seems to affect RTX 3000/4000-series GPUs with certain HDMI 2.1 displays, and that older GPUs without HDMI 2.1 don't have the issue. If it worked with an older driver version, tell them that as well.

I just upgraded from an Nvidia 2080 to a 3080 on my Windows 11 desktop, and now my Samsung QN95B TV will not work on anything except 144hz when Gaming Mode is enabled. I can change resolutions, but if I select 120hz or 100hz, I just get an HDMI disconnect screen. I noticed in CRU that when Gaming mode is enabled, there are 3 "Default Extension Blocks" in the Extension blocks section, but all 3 of them are empty. I'm not sure where it's even getting the 144hz from, but HDR 10-bit RGB and VRR seem to be working normally. However, if I disable Gaming mode CRU shows one entry for "CTA-861" with a bunch of settings in it, but with Gaming Mode disabled the maximum settings in Windows and NVCP is 60hz, no HDR, and only YCBCR444 color. It certainly should be able to do 120hz and HDR without Gaming Mode enabled.

My previous card, the 2080, didn't have any of these issues with this TV. Other than it being HDMI 2.0 so I couldn't get 4K@120hz, but 4K@60hz and 1440@120hz worked flawlessly with HDR 8-bit and VRR enabled. It seems like the only change is going from HDMI 2.0 to 2.1.

I've tried doing a clean install of the nvidia drivers and reset-all in CRU. The HDMI cable itself might be defective or only 2.0, but if that was the case I don't think 4K@144hz would work at all. I'm only using it in Gaming Mode, but being stuck in 144hz is causing issues with some games that have hardcoded video settings. Any ideas?

I had the exact same problem on my S95C. I initially thought the TV was defective and was considering returning it. I also have an RTX 3090. However, I managed to solve the issue by changing the HDMI cable. The cable that wasn't "working" was 3.05 meters long. I replaced it with a nearly identical one (both were Amazon Basics certified for 8K@60 at 48 Gbps), but this one was only 1.8 meters long. That did the trick, and it started working properly. Another thing you should check is the Nvidia control panel and ensure that the scaling is set to "Display." If it's set to "GPU," the video card will only output at 144Hz. Please verify these settings and let me know.

You are correct, it turned out to be my HDMI cable. I replaced it with a shorter one from "Zeskit" and all the issues went away

Can someone share default XL2540 (.bin) file from CRU?

Normally 144 Hz screens already include 120 Hz. If not, the screen might not support 120 Hz with standard timing parameters. Normally "Automatic PC" is sufficient, which uses CVT-RB for most resolutions. If that doesn't display correctly, you might have to use the vertical total calculator to keep the pixel clock the same as 144 Hz: https://www.monitortests.com/blog/vertic...alculator/

Frame skipping is not an issue with timing parameters. Frame skipping in the monitor is caused by the scaler doing frame rate conversion for unsupported refresh rates.

Be careful. My gaming laptop's 144 Hz screen only accepts its default timings fo a smooth 144 Hz and will otherwise default to 60 Hz.

Setting it to, e.g., 144 Hz with your own timings or to any refresh rate between 60 and 144 Hz, like 120 Hz, will actually let it display 60 Hz.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Anyone support or anyone tried to overclock oled screens on laptops? More specifically a ryzen laptop with a 60hz oled panel and igpu. What about a 1080p oled panel like this laptop: M1505YA-DS52 would it have a chance or is OLED no-go for changing the hz at all?
