RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello it's my first post here.
I got a Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro Laptop with a native resolution of 2880*1800 at 120hz. The processor is an AMD API Ryzen 7 7840HS, 780m IGPU. All i want to do is halving the native resolution to 1440*900. Now to my issue. No matter what I do on CRU, my display becomes extreme glitchy and is no way usable. I've tried everything (changing timing, refresh etc.) but that doesn't help at all. Even using SRE doesn't give me the option for 900p. Is there any trick that I don't know? I wouldn't mind native 1800p with a render res slider but some games doesn't even support that at all. Any help or info would he appreciated. |

IM new to CRU, thanks a lot for your time Digitech, what you're basically asking here is "how do I make a custom resolution" which means you haven't read the first page of this thread. So basically, you're just asking people to do everything for you, to walk you through every step, which is not cool Learn how to use the software on basic level, THEN if you have problems, you can ask for help by asking SPECIFIC questions Anyway, I'm a big CRT user, I used to have a HD CRT from Sony. 960x540 @ 60hz (33.75kHz horizontal approximately) will work well over the component input. Which has been discussed ad nauseum on places like Shmups forum and (in the past) AVS Forum, if you need more information (02-27-2024 05:21 PM)Haloass Wrote: Hello it's my first post here. Don't make 1440x900 in CRU, make in SRE, then restart, then enable GPU scaling, then enable integer scaling. But really, I wouldn't use that very much if I were you, it's pretty pointless. 1800p is a very high resolution, and non-integer scaling will look fine (1600p, 1440p, 960p, whatever), even if the game doesn't have built in scaling functionality |

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi, this is my first post here.
I had my Lenovo ThinkBook 15 ITL G2 for several years but recently I have tried to OC my monitor but stopped at 64.8 Hz, any higher at 1080p will become weird and my laptop will revert into the stable refresh rate. My monitor is Generic PnP Monitor - LGD06B8, 8 bit with dithering, SDR. It's also connected to the Iris Xe graphics with DisplayPort 1.4. I also had MX450 as dGPU but I don't think it affected my monitor. I also tried some timing settings but nothing can help me to increase refresh rate of monitor even though I don't reach to 160 MHz limit ( the max MHz I can reach after some changes). Hope to receive any info or advice. |

It looks way to blurry |

It looks way to blurry Did you not try the Windows Scaling settings instead, where your monitor is still 1800p but it just makes text bigger? Also you can tweak that further with cleartype And for sure on actual video games, I'd definitely use resolutions above 900p. Be a shame to only use a a quarter of the resolution of the monitor for everything |

That's why I wanted a 900p option. For anything else I'll stay at 1800p. |

Hey, bit of a stupid question but; is it safe to delete the Audio/Speaker data blocks from the EDID using CRU? i have reason to believe there is some interference thats being caused by the monitor audio transmitting to displayport and i want to completely disable the audio transmitting because i dont use it anyway (i use a gaming headset) if i disable these audio data blocks, willthere be any issues that arise from doing so? for example, is the audio data block necessary for the displayport signal to be properly sent or something? just wanna make sure that its completely fine to disable it before i do it. |

It will only disable audio for the monitor. |

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi
Hoping there might be a solution to a very specific use case I have. I have a headless dongle that I've setup to stream from my main desktop. I've edited in some custom resolutions (1920x1200 @60 and 90hz). They obviously can be set from custom resolutions in my control panel but then then gives me desktop resolution and active resolution disparity. With CRU I've edited them in "officially" so the dongle believes it supports those resolutions - that's fine. However - because at other resolutions the dongle supports up to 120hz, if I launch something where I can't control the refresh rate manually, the dongle then resorts to 1920x1200 @ 120hz which gives me the Active and Desktop signal disparity again. Now usually I'd just delete all other resolutions and be done with it, but I still need them at times. Is there a way to just remove those higher refresh rates from that resolution itself (if that makes sense). Thanks |
