Hi, I'm trying to oc my HDTV it's a Panasonic txp50vt65b, my gpu is an r9 290 connected directly to the tv via hdmi cable. I've tried various settings 720-1080, 70hz-120hz, the 720 profiles show up in ccc but the 1080 don't. All of which produce black screen. I have patched and restarted the drivers but to no avail. I'm guessing my tv is un-oc'able. Just wondered if you had any insight or other things I might try. TIA

I'm using Windows 10 Technical Preview, a Radeon HD 7850, a Gateway VX1120 monitor (VGA cable with VGA-to-DVI adapter from MSI), and Catalyst 14.9.1 Beta.

I run my monitor at 1280x960@119Hz (120Hz sets something just slightly over my monitor's limit and it won't work), and Windows can see and use this resolution and refresh rate just fine. Games however don't seem to see the refresh rate, and default to either 1280x960@75Hz (desktop res @ max stock refresh rate) or 2048x1536@60Hz (max res/refresh rate stock).

Here's what CRU looks like (only one monitor; no ghost displays in Device Manager):

I recall my 119Hz refresh rate working fine in games in the past. I used a different driver though, "slightly" different GPU (instead of the Twin Frozr MSI GPU I have now, I had a Power Edition; both were still a Radeon HD 7850 though), and used Windows 8.1.

The driver reboot thing didn't work also (games still didn't use 119Hz). Windows reverted to 1280x960@85Hz though, but I could still select and use 119Hz.

One thing I noticed; my pixel clock is nearly 216MHz according to CRU, but the limit is either 165MHz or 300MHz. I guess since Windows uses the refresh rate without issue, that my adapter and DVI connector must support dual-link?

hi all im trying to run at higher then 1080p never tryed before.im using a 40 ich samsung tv that cost 1400 quid 3 years ago so i thought it would be able to run 1400p at least..wen i use cru i loaded all types of resolution then reset but none are even showing in the displey list when i look after rebooting..can a hdtv work with this are do i need to use a resolutionl iv been trying for weeks nw i doing it all right thanks hope quick reply

ok i just added some new displays and some only some show up after reeboot.think the one the ones under 30hz show up but when i click change res k get no signal why cant i get this wrking i want conkers bad fur day 4k plz guys

Hi everyone, I have a Dell P1130 CRT monitor.

Using Custom Resolution Utility I was able to manually add the following resolutions:

1600 x 1200 @ 100Hz
1280 x 960 @ 120 Hz
1280 x 1024 @ 85 Hz
1920 x 1440 @ 75 Hz
2048 x 1536 @ 75 Hz

But how do I make the monitor display those resolutions? When I click the resolution and click on "OK" the resolution does not change. I am using a HD4600 GPU that is on my i5 4670k, I understand that it won't play games with a decent amount of fps on higher resolutions but I am just testing the resolutions out.

My motherboard is Asrock Extreme 4.
Also, it seems that I can't input refresh rates higher than 120, even if I lower the resolution, why is that?

I went to C:\Windows\System32 and clicked on the Intel application named CustomModeApp.exe and entered one of the resolutions above but none of them work. I now get the following message:

"The custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity".

How do I increase the bandwidth?

can i downsaple on a samsung 1080p hdtv i think its 75 hrts and what res can i try can any one help this should work but its not

CRU is not a downsampling utility. Your TV must support the resolution for CRU to work.

CRU is not supported with Intel GPUs. Intel's driver didn't support EDID overrides in the past, but I don't know if that has changed.

Standard resolutions are limited to 60-123 Hz. Use detailed resolutions for higher refresh rates.

You can't unless someone makes a pixel clock patcher for Intel, but you shouldn't need that with VGA. The hardware might not support higher pixel clocks with VGA.

2048x1536 @ 60Hz and 1280x960 @ 85 Hz should not exist if they're not listed in CRU. Try disabling the extension block.

1280x960 @ 75 Hz will automatically be added by the driver as a scaled resolution because a higher resolution exists at 75 Hz. Try disabling 1280x1024 @ 75 Hz under established resolutions. Make sure GPU scaling is not enabled in CCC.

You also don't need 1280x960 @ 119 Hz under standard resolutions if it's already added as a detailed resolution.

There shouldn't be any issues with games using refresh rates if you can select them on the desktop.

Passive DVI-VGA adapters don't use DVI signals. They are simply physical adapters that pass the analog signal through without conversion. The 7850 supports up to 400 MHz pixel clock with VGA.

Try importing the hdmi.dat file. That should allow the 1080p resolutions to be listed, but they won't work if the TV doesn't support higher refresh rates.

You shouldn't need the patch with VGA. I don't have any suggestions for manual settings. The settings affect image size and positioning on CRT monitors, so it would depend on the monitor. The "CRT standard" timing option should work with most CRT monitors.
