Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)

I am planning a new build specifically for using mdrejhon's lag reducing beam-racing feature via windows winuae amiga emulator, on a CRT for which I know runs at amiga authentic resolutions (2x native) of 640x576 50p or 640x512 50p. I have used powerstip on ancient GPUs (HD4xxx, matrox G) to achieve these resolutions on this monitor but if using beam-racing I need a much more modern GPU that still has analogue out, such as GTX980.

Will CRU allow me access 640x576 50p or 640x512 50p resolutions on a GTX980? Or can I import EDID files made in powerstrip? How about in the case of an R270 instead of the GTX980?

It should. Powerstrip doesn't make EDID files as far as I know, unless you mean EDIDs exported from the monitor, but CRU can already read the monitor's EDID. If the monitor doesn't have an EDID, you're better off with the GTX980 because AMD's driver has bugs with non-EDID monitors. Otherwise, either should work fine.

Thank you. Yes I think that is what it is, I needed powerstrip to read the monitors EDID because the AMD GPU's I was using did not read it. Great I'll pick up a GTX980 or a later model with hdmi to vga adaptor (HD fury 3) and see how I go with CRU and beam-racing.

I made a custom refresh rate of 75hz but my monitor cannot go up that high, so I want to delete it from the drop down options, but I do not know how to. Any help?

Hi Toastyx, I'm not sure where I got lost but I downloaded CRU.exe and have an Asus VG248QE with a GTX 1070. I wanted the option to use display scaling again since all I have is GPU scaling.

I copied the data from the extension block CEA-861 which had my current resolution an pixel clock because I noticed the default pixel clock was higher than what I use (1920x1080@144hz 325mhz) and then I made a detailed resolution by pasting the data, the same as my native resolution, hz and pixel clock.

My problem is I can't get display scaling to appear after I already reset the monitor with restart.exe and a reboot.

What exact steps do I need to do to make display scaling appear in the nvidia control panel? Do I need to install different Nvidia drivers or reinstall them?

I don't know because it's supposed to be available if any non-native resolution is listed in the EDID, but that doesn't always happen. I don't know why NVIDIA doesn't make the option always available like AMD does.

Hi Toasty,

We've used your awesome utility to set a custom resolution (1920x2160 24hz) for a specialized retail display. It worked great, thanks, and we were successful, so now we need to do 100s of them!

Is there any command line capability or ? that we can use to automate this change? Something we could do with inf files maybe?

We tried things like exporting and importing using the command line the reg files but that didn't seem to work.

Hi,

I'm running two Acer Predator Z650 in Surround on a 1080 Ti. I want to enable Full-screen Scaling on GPU in NCP, but the GPU option does not exist. I can only select Display. If I do so and hit apply, the scaling setting gets reset to No scaling after a few seconds.

Is the missing GPU option simply a bug in the driver or is there some theory behind it? Any suggestions on workarounds that could enable the GPU option?
