Idle Screen Saver
When using higher refresh rates with lower vertical blanking, the video card won't be able to clock down when idle because it won't have enough time to retrain the memory channel without causing the screen to flicker.
To work around this problem, this screen saver changes the refresh rate to 60 Hz and turns the monitor off to save power when the user is away from the computer. https://www.monitortests.com/Idle.zip Unzip the file and put it in the Windows directory (C:\Windows), then set it as the screen saver. Do not rename the file as it needs to call itself to prevent it from quitting when the monitor turns off. Make sure Windows power management is set to never turn off the display, otherwise it will stop the screen saver, which changes the refresh rate back and defeats the purpose of the screen saver. |
