Monitor resolution limited at 1280x1080 75hz PC mode (1920x1080 60hz TV m) Windows 10
Hello,
i have weird bug. So i don't need to rewrite all info: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/for...indows-10/ TLR i reinstalled drivers using ddu and still! Restarted pc/ turned off. Used another hdmi, reconnected etc. 1920x1080 120hz monitor eizo fg2421 stuck at 1280x1024 75hz mode! I am trying create custom resolution using cru, as creating custom resolution via nvidia control panel failed: HDMI no signal! Same using cru! Weird is i can go to 1920x1080p Ultra HD, HD, SD - 60hz only! But pc resolution stuck at 1280x1024. I used on this monitor PC resolution 1920x1080 120hz in past so... Problem is to create new resolution, i need also create extension blocks. As i have in existing extension blocks only 1920x1080 60hz. For TV i think. Problem is i don't know what i should copy from existing extension block and what to change! I read manual for cru at forums, but there is not enough information and nothing how to create custom extension block! I included picture of extension block, don't know if this is enough. How to create it for 1920x1080 120hz. THANKS MUCH!!! EDIT: i already checked manufacturers website for supported resolution, even i didn't think it would case. Now i bumped into manual and it says supported resolution in HDMI 1920x1080 60hz max. Lmao. https://www.eizoglobal.com/support/db/fi...1B1-EN.pdf Which is not problem tho for me. As i won't be using this monitor for gaming. But how do i get PC resolution 1920x1080 60hz. Ultra HD Sd, cause tons of lag. And i can't connect my monitor using another output. THANKS! |

RE: BUG: max resolution stuck at 1280x1080 Windows 10
I'm confused. First you say 1280x1080 max, then 1280x1024 max, then you say 1920x1080 is available but 60 Hz only, but then you also say Windows only lists 1920x1080 @ 24 Hz.
What is the highest resolution that Windows lists? Post a screen shot. What is the highest resolution that the NVIDIA control panel lists? Post a screen shot. Export a file from CRU and post it here. |

Yep i said 1920x1080 60hz is available, but then explained in Ultra HD, HD, SD mode only! It is called TV mode too. Not the PC mode! I am not sure, what it lists in windows mode now in Windows. As it changed couple times, as i was reinstalling drivers. And because i added 2 times 120hz modes. So these wouldn't count, so there are listed now 2 120hz modes! But it lists also 60hz mode, which can be TV mode and is probably TV mode only! As in CRU, there is only entry with 1080i for 1920x1080 60hz. I don't think that's PC resolution. So if it handles 1920x1080 60hz in Ultra HD, HD, SD mode, i don't see any reason it could handle 1920x1080 60hz in PC mode! I don't even need full hd. Problem is i don't want to mess up DPI scalling, or something. When i will run VR headset at the same time. I will use my TV in worst case as monitor. But then i can't control my PC at all, because no table and it is annoying! Or you can tell me if running at 1280x1024 75hz could create some problem for VR, or overall in system. As this is pretty weird resolution. And we know windows is full of bugs... I included screenshot: it is safe to say highest mode is 1920x1080 60hz in windows. I added 2x 1920x1080 120hz modes. So these doesn't count and doesn't work: HDMI no signal. In nvidia same these 2 120hz modes are added and doesn't work. So windows: highest it says it supports is 1920x1080 60hz for Ultra HD, HD, SD (TV mode) And for PC, it says in nv control panel max 1280x1024 75hz. |

As in CRU, there is only entry with 1080i for 1920x1080 60hz. I don't think that's PC resolution. There's no difference. That's an NVIDIA-specific designation. "Ultra HD, HD, SD" means 2160p, 1080p/i, 720p, 576p/i, 480p/i resolutions. 1920x1080 is 1080p. You're not being limited to 1280x1024. 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz is listed in the Windows display settings in your screen shot. It should be listed in CRU. Export a file and post it here so I can see. The monitor only supports 120 Hz with DisplayPort and dual-link DVI. There's no way to make it accept 120 Hz with HDMI. |

Quote:There's no difference. That's an NVIDIA-specific designation. You are mistaken there is difference! In CRU is only 1080i (which is TV resolution according wikipedia) and interlaced... No wonder it feels so laggy. I never used Ultra HD, HD, SD (TV) resolution, because it lags as hell! There is no 1080p resolution... Tho i noticed better imagine quality on all my monitors with this resolution. It looks more sharper and smoother. Don't know why... But never used it, because huge lag! Yes i am limited to 1280x1024, from eizo specs there is only resolution under HDMI - 1920x1080*2, don't know what that means. And second highest resolution is 1280x1024. So why i have under PC only 1280x1024 and under Ultra HD 1920x1080 60hz, which is not normal resolution, but interlaced... If i set 1920x1080 resolution in windows/display i get HDMI signal error. Same when i tried to create previously custom resolution in nv panel, but now it says 1920x1080 60hz already exists, don't know why. It could be that it is 120hz resolution (in case of windows/display). But why the hell, windows wouldn't detect 1920x1080 60hz in PC mode, if it was supported? It didn't show before, or it didn't work, i tried it, before messing with CRU! I also added 1920x1080 60hz resolution to extension block, and it doesn't work still! Or show in nv panel... Tho to add: in nv panel it shows under Ultra HD 1920x1080 as 1080p resolution. So that's confusing, while in CRU is only 1080i... Still there must be difference. Ultra HD resolution looks much better on all my monitors. But it adds tremendous input lag, so i never really used it! This is what i found from reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments...solutions/ Also says it is limited rgb. And it is HDTV resolution, so it is not probably 1080p and it is interlaced. Because it lags as hell! It will probably differ more in some more aspects, as it looks sharper and smoother, but adds input lag! https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/for...160-nvidi/ Even from this post. Nvidia staff sora says: Ultra HD is for TV specs. It is not meant for PC! Clearly there is a difference, because this resolution creates lag as hell. |

(12-23-2020 01:12 PM)empleat Wrote: You are mistaken there is difference! What exactly is the difference then? You keep saying "TV" and "PC" mode, but there's no such thing. There's nothing in the EDID that says whether a resolution is a TV or PC resolution. Only NVIDIA lists them separately. NVIDIA does not even call them TV resolutions. They are HD/SD resolutions. 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz is already listed under HD/SD resolutions. Why would you expect the same resolution to be listed under PC resolutions? Windows doesn't support more than one of the same resolution. (12-23-2020 01:12 PM)empleat Wrote: In CRU is only 1080i (which is TV resolution according wikipedia) and interlaced... Why do you keep saying there's only 1080i? Your other screen shots also clearly show 1080p is available, so it's not using 1080i like you assume. Clearly there is a difference, because this resolution creates lag as hell.Sora is not NVIDIA staff. There's no such thing as "TV" and "PC" specs. TVs and PC monitors using HDMI both follow the same standards. Yes, TVs and PC monitors sometimes use different timing parameters, and the next version of CRU will have separate timing options, but 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz is the same for TVs and PC monitors. The options will be mainly for 4K/8K resolutions and 100/120 Hz resolutions because TVs using HDMI and PC monitors using DisplayPort often use different timing standards for those resolutions. If you really want everything to be listed under "PC" resolutions, then delete the extension block. Then NVIDIA will treat it like a DVI monitor and disable all HDMI features. |
