I don't know if that's an active or passive cable. If it's active, it could be correcting the EDID. If it's passive, then the problem doesn't make sense because using a passive cable should be no different than using the HDMI port. I don't see any obvious problems with the EDID or anything unusual that could cause compatibility issues. It's possible there's something wrong with the GPU's HDMI port.

idk you're the expert but DP to HDMI is supposed to be passive(HDMI to DP is active), and the cable is pretty cheap so it probably is, all the settings in CRU extension seem to be the factory settings and there is probably no problem with the port because it worked with multiple other monitors, it's probably something very specific about hdmi v1.4 port with 2.0b hdmi and some specific settings that make it incompatible that's what my instinct says.
