Which are the best settings for making 21:9(2560x1080/3440x1440) resolutions for a 4k HDR 60hz TV LG uj6560.Use whatever works. I would try "Automatic (HDTV)" first since that's intended for TVs. |

Laptops with Intel GPUs usually have switchable graphics, so Intel's graphics driver is responsible for handling the monitor. |

Maybe the driver has issues with DSC. If the Registry changes made by CRU don't work with a display connected to an MST hub, then maybe I can use Monitor Asset Manager (moninfo.exe) to create a display override. |

It must be a bug in the driver. Does switching GPU scaling on and off make the resolutions appear? |

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello
I have a strange issue where CRU doesn't seem to be updating the resolutions that I otherwise successfullly delete within CRU, but still show up in Windows/NVCP. I have two monitors connected but only have one active monitor at a time (i.e. I used Win P to shift between them). One monitor is my older Acer Predator X34P running at 3440x1440@120Hz and the other is the new Acer Predator X34GS running at 3440x1440@180Hz. That is the native res of both monitors. Nvidia driver 461.72 and my X34GS is running the driver supplied by Acer. Windows is up to date. The issue is that Windows/NVCP show 4k resolution as my maximum resolution, which obviously isn't even a 21:9 resolution. This results in some buggy behaviour in games, e.g. Assassin's Creed Syndicate, where the image appears stretched, as if it is trying to apply a 16:9 resolution and stretching to 21:9. I think the problem is that the game somehow gets confused by seeing my maximum resolution as being a 16:9 resolution, i.e. 4k. This bug in the game only occurs on fullscreen or borderless, windowed shows the correct, unstretched, image. In CRU, I can see the "TV resolutions" under the CTA-861 extension block. I delete all of them and then restart my driver. The TV resolutions subsequently disappear from CRU, even if it reboot. The only other data blocks I can see are Audio Format, Speaker Setup, Colorimetry, HDR Static Metadata, Video Capability and FreeSync Range. Nothing else shows a 4k resolution, including the list of "Detailed Resolutions" listed above (nor under any other "Type" other than CTA-861). So far, so good. Unfortunately, however, NVCP still shows the 3840x2160 option under "Ultra HD, HD, SD" options. Also, Windows still reports 3840x2160 as the maximum resolution available under Display Settings. I simply cannot remove that option, no matter what I do (I have tried to CRU as Administrator as well). Even after reboot. Interestingly, if I run Syndicate on my second monitor, the X34P, it works perfectly and is not stretched. When using that as the primary monitor, the 3840x2160 has disappeared (along with the other TV resolutions) from the list of available resolutions. They reappear when switching back to the X34GS as the primary monitor. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you! |

[typo edits] All it shows in the "Extension blocks" section is: CTA-861: 3 detailed resolutions, 7 data blocks Default extension block FYI, the detailed resolutions are: 3440x1440@100Hz 3440x1440@84.999Hz 3440x1440@75Hz Thanks (03-13-2021 10:39 PM)Grecian2000 Wrote:(03-13-2021 10:27 AM)ToastyX Wrote: Is there a second extension block? Just to add to the above - CRU shows two X34GS profiles, a one x34P profile. However, only one X34GS profile is active (the one I am describing to you). The other profile doesn't show any extension blocks at all (i.e. there are just two entries showing "Default extension block"). I can't see the 4k resolution listed in the standard resolution for that second profile either (nor in the detailed resolutions of that profile). |

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
So I just added 2 extra refresh rates to my 1440p 165 Hz monitor (90 and 144, to be exact) with the application. The monitor was at 165 Hz refresh on the desktop, and I did not change anything about the current refresh I was running, just the registry entries for the mentioned future refresh rates under "Detailed Resolutions". I've done this before on different monitors and machines, with zero problems.
When prompted, I restarted my computer to have these resolutions logged, as I've done before. Big mistake, as I'm now given a black screen on boot and can't get rid of it. What happened here? How did adding these registry entries affect my boot refresh rate and resolution? Why am I locked out? Any help would be appreciated. |
