Hello ToastyX

would this patcher work with samsung s24d330h monitor using an HDMI cable since am not able to go for a 75hz as i did before the last nvidia driver update.

i used CRU before and i went from 60 hz to 75 hz.

also is this patcher safe,would it hurt my graphic card ?

You shouldn't need the patch with HDMI. Make sure the first extension block has an HDMI support data block.

The patcher by itself only removes pixel clock limits in the driver. It doesn't affect the hardware.

You haven't described what you're using the patch for. What monitor do you have? DVI or HDMI? Are you using CRU? What resolution did you add?


It's DVI, the monitor is LG 24MP58D-P. The resolution I've added is 1920x1080 (74hz). It worked just fine before I updated my video card drivers, now the games don't see above 60 hz, and the only way to get it to work is to play windowed borderless which isn't really a good thing for some games since it may result in losing fps.

Definitely not a patch issue then. Are you using CRU to add the resolution?

Question: My PC is old (running Geforce 9800GT) and ran 1440p just fine through DVI. Then used the Dvi port for something else and tried to connect the same monitor through my 9800 GT's port. HDMI port is capped at 1080p

Now I know this patch probably won't work for my old GPU but my question still stands as there *has to* be a way to unlock 1440p (or higher) for the HDMI port. My card can certainly do it (through DVI), so the limit is artificial.

Any idea where I can start searching? (For example any older version of this patch to support older cards?)

The limit is not artificial. You're using dual-link DVI, while HDMI is single-link. Only HDMI 1.3 and later can handle 2560x1440 @ 60 Hz, but your video card is too old.

Three possible solutions:

1. HDMI ports can act as single-link DVI ports, so if whatever you're using on the DVI port doesn't need dual-link DVI, you can use an HDMI-DVI cable/adapter. Then you can use the 2560x1440 monitor on the DVI port.

2. The NVIDIA control panel will let you bypass the HDMI limitation with custom resolutions if your video card can handle it, so try adding 2560x1440 @ 60 Hz as a custom resolution. Keep in mind even if the video card can do it, the monitor might not support that resolution with a single-link connection.

3. If the monitor can handle lower refresh rates, you can try adding 2560x1440 @ 40 Hz as a custom resolution.

Hey ToastyX nice to meet you and greetings from Venezuela, I was wondering if you can guidance me a little be, i do have a monitor syncmaster t200 with a normal cable DVI i guess, it has like 18 pines in the conector, and a then i have a nvidia graphic card gtx 580 wish the connector has 21 pins, but to be honest my dvi cable fits perfect o.O, but the thing is: I was wondering, what patch should i use? the full one? or the regular one?

This monitor can reach to 75 hertz and 77 hertz in resolutions like 1024, I remember a day i use this patch and i could up to 77 hz in 1680x1050 but i dont remember which patch i use u.u, sorry for my poor english bro

And thanks for your work, all i want is like a more responsiveness monitor and gaming experience, but hope you can also teach me a little be more about the Custom resolution utility that you make, and hope some day in my country the situation gets better, so in that way i will be able to get some dollars and donate :3

You don't need the patch for 1680x1050 @ 77 Hz. Just add it in CRU as a detailed resolution using the "LCD standard" timing option. Single-link DVI can handle a pixel clock up to 165 MHz without the patch.

You don't need the patch for 1680x1050 @ 77 Hz. Just add it in CRU as a detailed resolution using the "LCD standard" timing option. Single-link DVI can handle a pixel clock up to 165 MHz without the patch.

It works thanks so much, i follow your steps, and it only took 154 mhz, but, it sems that if go higher than 77 a message will pop up in the front of monitor like:

1680x1050 NO OPTIMAL MODE, but the thing is the image looks so perfect without any errror, it is possible to bypass that message? no optimal mode?
