RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
I have a Radeon HD7850 2GB in a recently purchased system. I connected to a Seiki uhd tv (SE39UY04) via HDMI. I am running windows 8. When I right click on the desktop to check the resolution it says 3840x2160. However I have compared images of known size on different monitors and it is clear that the actual resolution is 1920x1080. In catalyst I see that there is a section for hd tvs and the resolution 3840x3160 is not listed. The highest resolution there is 1080. It is however listed in the general section. I'm guessing the card recognizes that it is a hd tv and restricts the resolution. Has anyone seen this? Is there a solution? Thanks.

Is there something I'm missing, or is everyone supposed to do this?

And if, is there a way to make monitor detection automatic at start up?
That's not normal. What video card do you have? What version of Windows? Someone mentioned this happening with the R9 290 and Windows 8.1. If that's the case, then it's an AMD driver bug. Does enabling or disabling the extension block make any difference?

Well, that's exactly my configuration. Win 8.1 and Radeon R9 290.
Man am I having problems with this card.

I'm not sure what you mean by enabling/disabling extension block. You mean unplugging the socket from the wall, wait a few seconds and plug it again?

Is there a way to get this to work with Nvidia Surround? 5760x1080

If Strobelight won't work, then CRU won't either until NVIDIA fixes the problem.

It's the check box in the main CRU window.

I don't know what you mean. If the Windows screen resolution settings says 3840x2160, then it should be 3840x2160. The "Desktop Properties" in CCC should also say 3840x2160. The "HDTV Support" section is for adding missing TV resolutions, not for setting resolutions. What resolution does the TV say it's getting? It should say 3840x2160 @ 30 Hz.

Great Dodgy All I really want is to change the refresh rate to 75Hz. Darn you Nvidia! lol

Windows screen resolution on the Seiki does say 3840x2160 but I can guarentee that it is not. I have a HP monitor that does 2560x1600. I have displayed the same images on both monitors at 1:1 magnification. On HP monitor the images occupy less space on the screen. I measured the actual vertical size of the image on the screen and divided by the height of the screen. On the HP the ratio was about .52, on the Seiki it was about .76. To figure out the actual vertical resolution I computed (.52/.76)*1600 which is around 1090. So I reset my HP resolution to 1080 and voila, the two screens matched. It's not just the images, it is also the icons, etc. The Seiki is running 1080.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello Toasty,hello guys.

Today i've swapped my faulty monitor (http://www.amazon.fr/Iiyama-G2773HS-GB1-...B007W6X7NM) for the new version, which is running 144 Hz.The issue is i can't get any refresh mode above 60HZ,either from Windows or GPU menu.

My graphic card is Asus 7970 which is infamous for its artifacts in higher resolutions and the hidden mini DVI-D switch but at least i could get it to work how i wanted with the previous monitor, despite those shortcomings.

I've tried all my cables, updated latest GPU drivers, your CRU and Pixel Clock ones...I'm running out of ideas.Would it be possible i got delivered another screen that's faulty for the refresh matter or more like something wrong again with the 7970? When i try to pick higher refresh,120 and 144 hz are shown available everytime but screen only turns black for a little while before going back to 60 hz.Lastly,i realized some options are greyed into the screen's OSD,would that be related?

On another topic,i got a VT60 Panasonic screen and i'd be glad to hear latest word about it's compatibility with 120hz coming from a PC.Obviously,i googled and saw comments heading towards the sad answer but maybe i could be lucky with the New Year!

Thanks for your work Toasty,anyway!

If you're using CRU, make sure you don't have any custom resolutions defined in the NVIDIA control panel. NVIDIA's custom resolutions are listed separately with 32-bit under custom and 16-bit under native. CRU will make them both available as native.

Yes I deleted the NV control panel custom resolutions 1080@75 and 1440p@75 before I used CRU, rebooted, then ran CRU and entered them in, imported the audio-hdmi.dat file, rebooted, tested.

Everything works ok with the CRU entries 1080p@75Hz and 1440p@75Hz wirth these higher pixel clocks, you we correct it appears to all work well with NV and HDMI with higher pixel clocks, and the max audio format is now 24bit 48Khz, where as before the NV card HD audio would go a little higher, but my setting before was the max my tv can handle which is 24bit/48Khz so that's ok.

But still I get the odd time when switching back to native 1080p@60 resolution where the color bit depth is 16bit.

Should I run the reset.exe, and strip everything off, reboot a couple of times and re-attemp it all again?

Is the audio-hdmi.dat is anyway in error? or in need of a check or updating.

NV drivers: 331.82
GPU: MSI GTX 670 PE/OC 2GB
LG 50inch Plasma: LG-50PA650T
HDMI1.4x cable
Win7/64

I tried cleaning everything off back to re-installing the display drivers. But I'm still getting the odd instance when switching back to native 1080p@60 resolution where the color bit depth is 16bit, and need changing manually.
