RE: NVIDIA Pixel Clock Patcher
Hello,
I am having an issue with my computer. I'm not sure if it has to do with the pixel patcher or not, but I thought I'd ask anyway. So every once in a while when I start my computer my monitor will have no video. It is booting normally, because even if I can't see anything, if I wait a few seconds until when it normally gets to the password screen I can enter my password and then I hear a notification sound that plays every time I first get to my desktop. I am using the latest graphics drivers and have not had any other video related issues besides this. The only way to "fix" this issue is to turn my computer off and leave it for a while. After a while when I turn it on again it works normally. If I don't wait and keep restarting the computer, I'll get no video every time I boot. This has been going on for a few months now and it's starting to become an annoyance. I really don't have any ideas of what this could be. Appreciate the help! Specs: i5 2500k OC'ed to 4.5ghz EVGA GTX 780 3GB SC 16GB DDR3 RAM ASUS P8Z68-V motherboard Windows 10 Pro 64 bit (on anniversary update but the issue also occurred before I updated) QNIX 1440p monitor at 110hz (used regular pixel patcher, not full) |

Are you able to see the BIOS/UEFI screen? If your video card has two DVI ports, have you tried the other DVI port? |

However I know for sure that the computer boots and works fine during this. One is DVI-D while the other is DVI-I right, does it matter which I plug into if I'm using an overclocked monitor? This issue is extremely hard to diagnose because even if I found the fix, I wouldn't know it because this issue happens so infrequently. I was told it might be the fast startup feature on Windows 10. As I have issues with sleep/hibernate on this computer, that sounds like it could be the issue. Regardless, thanks for the help! Edit: Welp. Immediately after writing this post I turned off fast startup and shut down my computer. I had a feeling it would act up again now, and I was right. No video when I turned it on again seconds after. Like I said, I know that it's booting into Windows (for instance, instead of turning off immediately when I press the power button like it would do if it wasn't posting, it takes the same amount of time to shut down as if I clicked shut down in Windows). |

Windows settings shouldn't affect the BIOS screen. Have you contacted EVGA support about this? I contacted EVGA and they just got back to me today. Here is what they said: Quote:I would recommend trying this FAQ: 12v Rail test, Monitor the +12v reading which should be a constant between 11.6-12.4. Any irregular or fluctuations of anything greater than .05 readings may be a sign of power source failure. Granted these readings only show the system at an idle state but it will give us a bit better idea of the condition of the power supply. Also testing either the card or PSU in a different computer to isolate the card away from your existing computer or testing a different card in your current computer. This may help confirm if the issue is isolated to the card or an underlying issue with in your current system/motherboard. About the DVI ports. When I experience this issue I have taken my DVI cable and put it into the other port, but I still don't get any signal on my monitor. I guess I should try leaving my cable in the other DVI port and wait to see if the issue ever happens again? You think it could be the DVI port malfunctioning every so often? Thanks again, I appreciate it. |

RE: NVIDIA Pixel Clock Patcher
Windows 10 does not work well with my OC. W7 it's fine in, in W10, after awhile of being booted, my screen gets this weird effect, flashing white lines. Not consistent, but when I open like a browser or a window or something.

RE: NVIDIA Pixel Clock Patcher
I've experienced an issue with the last few driver releases after 368.95 - and like others I'm not sure if it's due to the patcher or the drivers themselves.
After installing the driver, applying the nv patch and restarting, I get occasional horizontal flickering (every 5-10 secs) across the screen. Lowering the monitor OC to 96hz or even 80hz doesn't seem to fix the problem. Absolutely no issues with 368.95. Monitor: Crossover 27 with overlord PCB GFX card: GTX1070 Anyone else getting the same issue? |
